lately my taskbar doesn't show, my windows key doesn't work, and i cannot access my settings. I think this is a bug with the installation of windows 11 but I cannot uninstall it due to me not being able to get to my settings. I've been trying to reset my pc. I've searched up YouTube video upon YouTube video. nothing has helped or worked.

2022-08-27T19:24:29+00:00 HI Bella. II'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.
- Try these fixes for Windows 11 Taskbar:
https://wethegeek.com/windows-11-taskbar-not-wo...
https://m.majorgeeks.com/content/page/restart_r...
https://www.techadvisor.com/how-to/windows/wind...

If none of those work then go over WIndows 11 with this checklist to find and fix problems:
- Re-register the Settings app in Windows 11 here:
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/reset-and-re-regi...
- Fix the Windows 11 keyboard WIndows key not working here:
https://www.groovypost.com/howto/windows-key-no...
- See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem started:
https://itechhacks.com/system-restore-windows-11/
System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started. If System Restore is not enabled on C drive do that now so it's available in the future.
If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.droidwin.com/how-to-stop-only-a-spe...
5)Update your drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. While there check for the latest Chipset, BIOS, Sound, Network, USB3, Bluetooth and all other drivers to compare with the version/date installled for that device in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.
- Expedite install of all Windows Updates in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates, including needed restarts, then go back to check again until no more are offered.
Then go into Microsoft Store app > My Library > Get Updates and expedite all Store app Updates, too, until no more are offered.
- Run a full Windows 11 Disk Check: https://allthings.how/how-to-run-chkdsk-in-wind...
- Establish a Clean Boot to turn off Startup Freeloaders that can conflict and cause issues:
https://www.makeuseof.com/clean-boot-windows-11/
- Test for account corruption by creating a new Local Admin account to see if the problem goes away:
https://pureinfotech.com/create-local-administr...
Sign into the new account, test it works correctly, if so move files over, test all apps work or reinstall any that don't. Then when ready delete the old account in Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users.
You can change it to your Microsoft account if desired in Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a Microsoft Account Instead.
- Download, install and run a full scan with free Malwarebyes from https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ after enabling Root Kit scan in Scan Settings. Clean Up anything it finds and then run again. Turn off Real Time trial in Control panel to keep as on-demand scanner.
- Run System File Checker/DISM in WIndows 11 to find and fix any broken System files:
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/use-system-file-c...
- If that doesn't fix it then you can do a Windows 11 Repair Upgrade which reinstalls Windows while saving your files and apps in place, brings it up to the latest version by the most stable method, takes about an hour and resolves most problems: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...
Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

2022-08-27T20:46:15+00:00 Hi,
I was having a similar issue after installing the latest Windows 11 updates:
2022-08 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5016591)
2022-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5016695)Immediately after restarting, my taskbar was unresponsive except to allow me to interact with system tray icons. Program icons did not show in the main taskbar area. Pressing the Windows key did nothing to bring up my start menu or search, but did work in combination with other keys for shortcuts (Windows + S for search, + R for run, + I for settings, etc.)
My System Restore option was greyed out, and none of the typical advice worked for me from any of the threads I found, except the step-by-step System Restore guide I found buried in the first of Greg's links:
https://wethegeek.com/how-to-use-system-restore-on-windows-11/So, what I ended up doing was:- Windows + S
- Type "Recovery"
- Select "Recovery" as shown here from the control panel (a bit different from the directions in the link)
- Clicked "Open System Restore"
- Checked the date/time on the system restore it had selected, checked other restore points, and then confirmed and went with the one it had chosen, since it was close to when I had run Windows Update.
- I think I chose my System drive (C:) - I don't have screenshots from that part of the process. But then I hit Finish and waited for my system to finish restoring, and when it was done, my taskbar was back to normal.
There were several errors with my default startup apps upon finishing the restore, like ElevenClock, EarTrumpet etc., things that I think were relying on Python, but I will look into those separately.
