I have Sony SVE15127CNB laptop running with windows 10. My laptop has less wifi strength than other laptop in same network and same distance. While my laptop shows 2 bars near about 2 meter distance but other laptop like dell,hp which I have in my family shows full strength and if the distance become more than 3 meter the wifi signal gone but at the same time other laptop have shown full or 4 bars . For that reason they can access internet almost everywhere in my home but I cant. I have to sit near the router. I made the the adapter updation , adapter install and reinstall from sony website for the same model, troubleshooting but the problem remains same. Please tell me how to solve this problem.

Funny enough wifi or whatever strength is dependent on the antenna and tech in each device. That strength will naturally range from device to device.

If the laptop is capable of using 5ghz as well as 2.4ghz then its probable one of them will offer greater strength over the other. That would be the ssid choice when connecting to wifi on the laptop (the choice picked in the list to connect to). So I'd start there.

Its also possible that something is blocking the wifi at that particular location or the wifi itself isn't simply going to that spot as well as the other.

Other solutions are varied and subjective. You could buy a wifi AP and get full signal by placing the wifi AP at full signal or close to that with the originating wifi which will expand the wifi coverage. You could buy a stronger router, move it, or change its antenna pattern. You could buy an external usb wifi adapter for the laptop with its own outward antenna which might fix it. You could change the router channel for wifi. And so on.

    Hi Yunus SIR,

do you connect via the 2.4 or 5 GHz network? Does the same happen with both networks? Is the SSID the same for both networks or do you use different SSIDs?

Specify the exact model of your WiFi adapter. If you have the possibility, try connecting to another WiFi network, for example your phone's hotspot, and see if the behavior is the same.

It depends on how you are connecting. 2.4ghz will have a longer range then 5ghz+. It also depends on what channel you are connecting to. a/b/n/ac ect. Try "dumbing" down your connection. To do this you go to drivers pick your wifi driver then properties then just try different settings. Also check your network modem to see what it actually supports for speeds.. Look at the admin settings in your router under http://192.168.0.1/ Networking gets "fun" without all the details so I am giving you the basics to try.
