Cannot extend volume (greyed out) to merge unallocated disk space on same drive

Hello,

I am trying to merge 93.15 GB of unallocated disk space to my main windows drive, but the option to extend the volume is greyed out. I do not want to format both partitions as I have data on my main drive. How can I combine this unallocated disk space?

Thank you

    Hi dennoi,

I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.

On Disk Management, you can only extend partitions that are next to each other.

You will need a third-party tool to move the 625MB portion to the end of the disk and extend the C: partition.

I recommend you use AOMEI Partition Assitant, its free version will allow you to do this.

I created a similar drive structure to help you how to do that.

    That is the drive:

After installing the AOMEI partition assistant, open it and you you see this screen with all your drives.

Right-click the 625 MB partition and select Resize/Move partition and drag the partition to the end of the disk (be careful to not resize it).

Now the unallocated space will be next to the C: partition, right-click the C: partition and select Resize/Move partition and resize it to fill the whole space.

After this process, select Apply on the top left corner to apply the changes, it will probably request to restart the computer to apply the changes.

After the restart, you should see the drive without the unallocated space on Disk Management

I had the same problem. You need to move your unallocated space right next to disk C. So it should be between disk "C" and "Healthy (Recovery)". You can do this with specific utility. I used "NIUBI Partition Editor". After that disk C can be extended.

Probably because its not adjacent to C:\

You can do this with the EaseUS partition tool and many others
