I have done everything possible to Install windows, after having and issue with my ASUS F555BP laptop bootig up into the BIOS. I have made a WIN 10 Reinsall flash drive, and followed the steps that have been suggested in many YouTube Video, Microsoft Pages, and other Tech forums and artcles. I am getting the following error:

Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occured while preparing the computer's system volume. Error code 0x80070057.

I am now on the screen that says Windows Setup, and am asked where do I want to insall Windows. And it is now showing only 1 entry: (Name) Drive 0 Partition 1 (Total Size) 931.5 GB (Free Space) 931.5 GB (Type) Primary.

At the borrom of the screen it says: " Windows can't be installed on drive 0 partition 1. (Show Details)" When I click Show Details it says Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The seleted disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. The only options below the box are Refresh, Load drier, delete, and Format.

I have been trying to get back to Windows since Friday the 23-09-2022.

I don't know what the issue is, or how to progress from here.

PLEASE HELP, I am desperate. I cannot afford to get it to a tech to sort it out as I am a senior and on benefits.

TIA

Leonie

    Hi Leonie

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

At the very start of the Installation Process, press Shift + F10, or Shift + Fn + F10 to open Command Prompt

Run this command and hit Enter:

    diskpart

Run this command and hit Enter:

    list disk

(Make note of the disk number you want to convert and enter it into the next command - replace X)

Run this command and hit Enter:

    select disk X

Run this command and hit Enter:

    clean

Run this command and hit Enter:

    convert gpt

Then close Command Prompt and start the installation again.

Run this command and hit Enter:

Run this command and hit Enter:

I have followed those steps, and have a slightly different error message:

We couldn't install Windows in the location you chose. Please check your media drive. Here's more info about what happened: 0x8007005

    Now what do I do?

    Hi Leonie

On a bootable USB, you would get the prompt on the X drive, it is okay to continue with those commands at the x:\Sources prompt, the only thing to ensure is you are converting the target drive for the installation

Sio I have done list disk and this is what I see

Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt

    Disk 0 Online 931 GB 0 B

    Disk 1 Online 29 GB 0 B

    And it now shows

    DISKPART>

Do I enter 0 for Select Disk? So I type select disk 0?

Does Asus support page not say how to run Diagnostics on boot up? It will be a key combo that starts diagnostics on boot, prior to any booting win prompt.
