Hi anyone from MS I Have a question to ask:

So I have a fully working PC with Windows 7 SP1 on it and everything is up to date including the OS. And I love my Windows 7 because I worked hard on getting the updates together and I don't want to lose it or upgrade so after Jan 2023 when Windows 8.1 ends support will all my software still continue working on Windows 7 like edge, OBS, Whatsapp and more. Will my software still work after Jan 2023? that's all I'm asking.

You can continue to use it.

Support for 7 ended in Jan, 2020.

Support for 7 has nothing to do with what happens with support for 8.1.

And we don't work for Microsoft.

We don't know what Microsoft is going to do with Support for Edge in the future.

I suggest that you read through this:

With end of support Microsoft is not telling you that your operating systems won't work.

What they are saying is that after a certain date they will no longer support them.

Whether they still work or not with particular programs is up to the particular program manufacturers.

Example: Google Chrome is no longer supported for security updates in XP or Vista by Google and Mozilla Firefox is following the same path.

What this basically means with Microsoft no longer supporting an operating system is that even though hackers may find "holes" and vulnerabilities to be able to access the operating systems and cause security problems, Microsoft will no longer be monitoring or rectifying those problems by way of Security Updates each month.

You are on your own in regards to maintaining the Security of your operating systems.

I mean you could, but Windows 7 is kind of a big security vulnerability right now. It's EOL and doesn't receive any more security/bugfix updates, and can be vulnerable to botnets, etc. If your machine is too old to run Windows 10/11, you could try a Linux distro like any Ubuntu-based one, or Linux Mint.

So any site I go to I can download their software and it will work on Windows 7?

Thanks for the reply but can I still use my web browser on Windows 7 like can I watch YouTube video any problems or can I go to Google to search something like can I still surf the internet on Windows 7 after jan 2023?
