Microsoft Store Couldn't Update (0x80072EE2)

Hi,

I've been having trouble with my new Windows 11 laptop to connect to the Microsoft store and complete an update for it. It keeps giving me the error code 0x80072EE2 and this issue happens to also be affecting other apps ability to connect to their respective things in order to update it. Another example of an app failing to connect to something in order to update is Epic Games Store. It seems to me that it might be something affecting the laptops ability to interact with outside servers to receive updates and not a Microsoft store specific problem. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Good day! I'm Raniel, a Microsoft user like you. I understand your frustration regarding this issue but I'll do my best to help.

Kindly perform a reset of your windows update components using this reset script. Please refer to this article (ensure that you are running the command prompt as an administrator): https://www.elevenforum.com/t/reset-windows-upd...

Once done, perform a clean boot and see if you'll encounter the same issue: https://support.microsoft.com/help/929135/how-t...

Note: temporarily disable your firewall/antivirus, then check again.

Another option is to enable the "built-in" administrator account to isolate the issue:

    1. On your search bar, type command prompt and select "run as administrator"
    2. On the command prompt window, type net user administrator /active:yes and press Enter
    3. Reboot your machine, then login to your admin account, and check if you'll encounter the same issue.

Note: If you don't encounter the issue on the built-in administrator account, I suggest that you create a new user account (go through the steps under "My computer is in a workgroup") . Please refer to this article as a guide: https://support.microsoft.com/help/14039/window...

However, if the issue persist, kindly perform a repair install of your Windows which fixes the broken system files on your machine. Here is a guide: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

There should be no worries in performing it since you will select the option to keep your files during the process.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

    Hi Exinal,

Apologies if the suggested methods didn't work for you. May I know if you were also able to perform the repair install?

Can you also perform the additional methods on this article: https://windowsreport.com/fix-windows-8-1-windo...

You may also look into the Windows 10 recovery options(see "Restore from a system restore point" or "Reset your PC"): https://support.microsoft.com/help/12415/window...

Note: ensure to have a backup of your files

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you.
