The wifi does have to be compatible so maybe that's the reason.

    Eg https://support.apple.com/en-il/HT203302

"If you're using an iPhone 12 model or later, turn on Maximize Compatibility.* Then try connecting your devices again to your Personal Hotspot."

There are compatibility things between wifi devices. Most of it depends on the settings. Manual config will cause more problems over them just automatically detecting and doing it for people. In some cases they don't automatically make adjustments. In others they may have set the hardware to simply not be backwards compatible and nothing can be done besides buying a different device on either end.

unfortunately, i cannot even test this until the regular network is down again according to my cellular network, and from what i can tell on my phone.

i could potentially remove the default home wireless network, but i don't see a reason to do so. i am unable to tell you about the GHz, and if the laptop supports it. However, the laptop was not allowing me to type the password. That is all that i could see that was wrong. However, i did copy it exactly several times.

    Hi Joshua

On your iPhone, change the password to something simple like 4 characters, save that and try logging in from Windows, what error do you see when you try to log into that network?

Do you know if the hotspot on the iPhone is set to 2.4Hz or 5Hz and does your laptop support that type of network?

    Hi Joshua,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If you create a WiFi hotspot on your iPhone, without any sort of connection, your laptop should see that as an available WiFi connection that you can connect to with the password you have set in the hotspot settings on your iPhone.

Can any device see that iPhone hotspot?

Here are the steps Apple provide, are you not seeing it as an available WiFi connection?

If not, the best option is to contact Apple support, there may be an incorrect setting on your iPhone.
