Awesome Peter! Sometimes the app does indeed glitch and after logging out and logging in, and also restarting the PC a few times and cleaning the cache, it works properly again.

I bought Bendrock. I bought Java as a standalone license. I bought both licenses for my kids and I bought the mobile versions.

If you bought Minecraft through Mojang, have you completed the migration process from Mojang to Microsoft? You can find the instructions here and you must follow them: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/44.... Take into account that, once you migrate, the game will be in your Microsoft account (not in the Mojang one).
If you're having the demo issue in Java edition, there are only two possible scenarios (extracted from https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/44...):

The new version without success in the older version after a series of repeated login/logout attempts, the game started.
