After a recent update the text cursor keeps turning white on random occasions while hovering text input fields. This happens both in Chrome and Edge. This doesn't affect Word or other applications. It seems to be happening only in browsers.

It's very annoying, please help me.

I was experiencing this same issue as well. I managed to solve this issue by changing my cursor settings through the following:

Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers > (Find the "Text Select" pointer and select it) > Browse > Select and open "beam_r" > Apply

This may solve the issue you are experiencing.Image

This is a long standing issue caused by MPO in DWM, it causes all sorts of issues on Windows 11 as well. As stated and well by piezo, the real fix is disabling MPO through regedit.

Microsoft is yet to acknowledge this issue, but Google, Intel, AMD and NVidia have already confirmed the issue is there, and they recommend disabling MPO as well.

Here is the fix by NVidia (works on AMD and Intel), After updating to NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 461.09 or newer, some desktop apps may flicker or stutter when resizing the window on some PC configurations | NVIDIA (custhelp.com)

I am having the same problem, but Word 2016 is also suffer from this.

I found that disabled the "hardware acceleration" of Edge and chorme, this problem can be solved.

However the webpage loading speed become slow.

It seems only AMD CPU and GPU suffer this problem. Because my collerge use the same version OS, Edge(or Chrome) but a Intel i5-12500H CPU and GPU procesor, he dose not meet this problem.

My PC info is as follows

    OS: win11 Pro version 21H2(OS build 22000.1165)

    Word : Word 2016(16.0.5317.1000) MSO (16.0.5366.1000) 64-bit

Edge: Version 107.0.1418.35 (Official build) (64-bit)

    Chrome: Version 107.0.5304.88(Official build) (64-bit)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics

GPU/Display adapter: AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics with drive version 30.0.14052.4003

    Hello,

I'm experiencing the same problem after upgrading to Windows 11. I'm afraid I did not find the original reply very useful, but a big thank you to piezo-usm for the more helpful reply. I'm also running on a AMD Ryzen with Radeon graphics, and disabling the hardware acceleration in Chrome and Edge as you suggested has fixed the problem.

For more info, on mousing into a text input field the cursor would change to white (disappear) for about 3 seconds and would then revert to black. This happened on Edge and Chrome but not on Word or Firefox. Here's what I'm running:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon graphics

    OS: Windows 11 Pro v 22H2 OS Build 22621.1105

    Chrome: v 109.0.5414.120

    Edge: v 109.0.1518.78

    Word: v 2301 build 16.0.16026.20002 64 bit
