I had problem that every time I connected my phone in tethering mode new connection was created every time.
I followed first reply in this thread which solved my issue but now my internet icon shows as not connected to internet.
It's not really an issue but annoying.

Windows build: 19044.2130.

On screenshot below it visible that I am using internet to describe my issue but internet icon shows that device not connected to network.

    Hello LacticWhale, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that the network icon shows as Not connected but the internet is working fine;

    What exactly is your PC model and manufacturer?

    If it's a desktop, what exactly is the model and manufacturer of your motherboard?

    Before answering the question I suggest that you run the network adapter troubleshooter;

    Press Windows key + i and go to Update & Security;

    Click Troubleshooting and then Additional Troubleshooting;

    Select Network adapter and click Run the troubleshooter;

    Make sure Windows is up to date;

    Press Windows key + i and go to Update and Security;

    Click Check for updates and do ALL pending updates;

    Do a disk cleanup;

    Press Windows key + R and type: cleanmgr press Enter;

    Click on clean system files and wait for the files to load;

    Select all files and click ok to delete them;

    Restart the PC and check if the behavior persists;

    See you soon!

    Windows 10 had a bug before (I suppose could still be) where it would go away if you right click on it and go into the settings and sit there for a moment (approx 1 minute or less) that it would turn into the correct icon.

    But, there's various reasons why it could show up that way. The icon not refreshing properly in code is only one possibility.

    Also, make sure you are fully up-to-date with Windows 10 which is now 22h2.
