can not install ryzen driver nor adrenalin software win 10 and 11

I have Ryzen 5 5600G on my machine. Windows is installing its drivers by force removing and making adrenalin software unusable and updates from amd impossible. I tried to prevent driver installation which appeared as windows update (patch or whatever) without any luck, it was installed despite my action to pause updates. This is happening on win 11 as well on win 10.

Why microsoft is forcing installing drivers when I have adrenalin software installed and everything in perfect condition and working? After force install of driver as update Photoshop is showing old driver while amd software is throwing error messages 182 and similar. Fortunatelly I have RTX 2060 so I can operate but I am looking to setup things without nVidia dedicated graphics card what seems impossible and not advisable because windows is doing nonsence force install update.

How to get rid of installed drivers and how to prevent any feature undesired update?

Thats what I did, fresh Windows 10 reinstall with nVidia GPU removed from mtb. It worked few days with nVidia pluged back after AMD drivers were all in place and Adrenalin up and working but unfortunatelly it was for short time.

With Windows 11 it worked month or more with nVidia and integrated AMD graphics card then start throwing error messages whenever I tried to acess Adrenalin. After trying everything found online, on Microsoft and AMD sites I decided to reinstall Windows 10 this time. As you can understand, happy and joy were very short.

I tried show hide updates, it seems that software solved some problem.

But still no luck with amd software. I am receiving error 182. I tried to contact amd support ending up that they gave up and stop responding to my emails.

The only way it worked, at least some time untill RTX 2060 was back in business, was without dedicated GPU. Adrenalin was installed and worked fine for 3 or 4 days and then start throwing error messages.

Screenshot above with error 182 is thrown after running "Auto-detect and install" from this page > Windows 10 - 64-Bit Edition > Auto-Detect and Install.

It's a common issue at the moment with Adrenalin being rendered useless...I can't recall seeing a solution to it though.

You should be able to still get AMD Updates without using Adrenalin, albeit you'd have to manually check if there are updates. Try:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-5000-g-series-desktop-processors-radeon-graphics/amd

Click on Windows 11 to expand the sub-category and then scroll down for "Auto-detect and install"...that should come up with all drivers that can update

    Hello BojanZivkovic,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Windows update provides users with a more stable driver, so its version may be older than the version provided by your device vendor.

If you have special needs or encounter driver issues after upgrade, you can hide the update by following these steps.

    1. Visit **Download Windows Updates Showhide.diagcab** **** to download and run the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package. Image
    2. Click "Hide updates" > "Next", then select the driver update, indicating that you want to hide it, then click "Next".
    3. Follow the troubleshooter to the end. Then open Windows Settings and "Check for Updates", now the printer update won't appear as an error anymore.

If there is anything that is not clear, do not hesitate to let me know.

    Sincerely

Mavis - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
