Licenses under ESxi vs VMWare

If i install evaluation of Windows Server under VMWare Fusion on Mac, i only get 10 days, but if i do the same under ESXi i get 180 days evaluation..

Why the difference? Specially Windows 2008 vs Windows 2012.

Windows Server 2012, i get the full 180 days regardless, but i need to install under ESXI to get the full 180 days with
Windows server 2008

    The hypervisor used does not matter. In order to complete the evaluation activation an internet connection is required.

    That's strange,,

    In all cases these are evaluation versions.. but if i also try 'slmgr /rearm, on Server 2008 in VMWare, Any other reason why it's only 10 days then? If i slmgr /rearm from command line it goes back to 10 days....
