How do I speed up Windows Mobile Hotspot connection speed?

Hey,

So, here's the issue. I am currently at university, and my room's Wi-Fi speed is very slow (average 7mbps down/up) and highly unreliable, especially for mobile devices. So, I connected my Laptop via the Ethernet cable for a stable connection, where I receive over 900mbps download and 45mbps upload.

I used Windows' Mobile Hotspot to connect my phone in hopes of getting faster speeds, however, when used, I only get around 20mbps down/ up. Looking a little more into it, it seems Microsoft uses a protocol which should allow for 250mbps transfer, which I don't get.

Any help?

    Hey,
The issue has worsened, wherein I cannot even connect my device to the laptop anymore.

The hotspot itself does show up, but when I try to connect to it via my phone, it gets stuck in the 'Obtaining IP address' section, failing to connect. :(

    Hi,

go to Network Connections, right click on your internet connection> Properties> Sharing tab, post the screenshot.

Try updating the virtual adapter drivers:

Go to Device Manager, expand network adapters, select your WiFi adapter then click on View> Show hidden devices at the top, right click on both Microsoft WiFi Direct Virtual Adapters and choose Update Driver, then try again.

If the situation does not improve, uninstall both those virtual adapters and then restart the computer, then check the speed of the Mobile Hotspot after the restart.

Hey, yeah, unfortunately that did not help either. I followed the steps and reinstalled first the latest driver from 18th Oct 2022, and then the previous driver from June, which was the oldest available for Windows 11 for the laptop.

    Still no luck unfortunately :(

I typed in all the commands into an elevated command prompt, restarted my PC and checked, however, it didn't work.
Same with the network reset, still no luck.

Would the actual adapter be the issue? it physically not being able to support past 20mbps down/ up.
