Another symptom to add, a lot of times after a restart I will get blue screened with the Windows stop code : DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR
Display Adapters
Good afternoon all,
After installing the Windows 11 22H2 update I've had issues with windows recognizing my display adapters. On a fresh restart all is working fine. I go to device manager and I can see my GPU recognized and working fine. If I have time I can even load games and they run normal. Then at a random time, sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes 15 minutes, my extended monitor will lose connection, my main display flashes and freezes several times, and the pc loses any connection with the Nvidia GPU. When I go into device manager and check under display adapters, Nvidia will only be shown under hidden devices and the Intel graphics driver will then need to be updated as well to return the main display back to it's normal resolution.
PC is an Alienware M17 R2. GPU is currently a Nvidia 2070 Max Q.
I've ensured my Nvidia drivers are up to date (522.25), used DDU to uninstall in safe mode then rebooted and reinstalled. I've tried to revert the windows update but the problem follows. I've also preformed an in-place windows update with Windows 11. I've also ran the sfc /scannow function in the cmd prompt, along with many other hopeful quick fixes.
Attached is an image of my device manager after the problem has occurred. You can see the Nvidia GPU and Microsoft Basic Display Adapters are greyed out.
If anybody can give me any help on this issue it would be greatly appreciated!

Then go to bios enable nvidia gpu. Restart windows.

2022-10-24T17:12:40+00:00 Thank you for the response.
I have verified that my bios firmware is up to date (1.17.0), and I have the Nvidia GPU set to the default GPU.
I tried exactly as you suggested, using DDU to uninstall the existing driver, then downloaded and installed Dell's v512.98 driver.
Thought for a moment it would hold, but shortly after restarting the Nvidia GPU dropped out again.

VARADHARAJAN K 9,676 Reputation points Volunteer Moderator2022-10-22T10:50:21+00:00 Make you have installed bios firmware version 1.17.0.
Did your laptop have the option, to select the default GPU for display or play games inside bios, if there is means, then select only Nvidia as the primary GPU.
Dell already released a customized driver v512.98 for your model gpu.
Currently, you installed generc driver v 522.25 which is released from nvidia inc.
So uninstall existing driver using DDU and then download the 512.98 drivers from dell site

2022-10-26T12:34:31+00:00 Update, the problem has persisted even after a factory image reset back to Windows 10.
