I reinstalled Dropbox and that caused my present problem.
However, the info you provided talked me through how to properly stop Dropbox as a back up.
Now I'm just trying to get my Downloads folder back.

A few months ago, my music file would not open. With help here, I was able to restore it.
Now, it seems my main download folder has gone ASAP.
I lost my music file due to using Dropbox. I deleted Dropbox and all was good until, on a whim, I reinstalled it.
Any ideas on how to get my downloads folder back?

Hi JerryAZ1,
Thank you for that screenshot, it is a folder, I see the problem, DropBox is causing that folder to be treated as a shortcut.
I need to see another location in your registry.
Click View and make sure 'Address Bar' is turned on.
Paste this into the Address Bar at the top and hit Enter.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Please provide a screenshot of that Registry Editor page.

Hi JerryAZ1,
That is indicated as a shortcut (see the small arrow at the bottom left of the icon), not a folder, right click that Downloads and select properties, please provide a screenshot of the resulting dialog
