Wireless mouse (mice) not recognized on Windows 10

Hello,

I have recently for the first time on this device tried using a wireless device of any kind. Namely, I am now trying to use a wireless mouse. The model for this one is Logitech M220. As the title says, it's just not working, and I will now list several important notes.

  1. Immediately before this Logitech M220 I bought and tried a Hama wireless mouse (I forgot the model), but that one wasn't working on both this device and other devices. However all of the errors I got with the Hama were the same as with the Logitech.
  2. The Logitech mouse works perfectly well any time all the time on another device. I have another computer that uses Windows 7 and I can just easily unplug the mouse from this Windows 10 one and plug it there on Windows 7 and it works fine. So, hopefully this'll neutralize worthless troubleshooting questions such as "Are you sure the batteries are in?"
  3. Attempting to update the driver through Device Manager gives me this error:

In the Device Manager, this is how my computer sees this device (and also how it saw the Hama before).

It is also shown like that in the "Bluetooth and other devices" menu.

  1. Apparently Logitech on the internet has some 200mb software of its own for installing drivers of its devices, but this software doesn't resolve my issue as it just says there's nothing plugged in.
  2. Despite the fact that it works 2 seconds after plugging it into any other computer, I have slightly entertained the idea that there might be some driver I could manually download for it, but after much Googling I found nothing that gave good results.
  3. I have tried
  • different USB ports,
  • restarting my computer,
  • powering off my computer, then plugging in the device, then powering it on,
  • right clicking on the "USB Receiver" in the Device manager, clicking uninstall driver, restarting the computer, and re-plugging the device
  • (IMPORTANT!) Uninstalling my regular mouse drivers and then trying the new wireless mouse.

This is my device information:

I think I've listed everything there is to list. Thank you for your time, I hope someone can help me.

Not 100% sure but it looks like the following linked download is for all Logitech receivers. A firmware update targeting the receiver may work and also it should be found since that only has to be plugged into the USB port and correctly working from that. I can't really tell if the m220 is offered firmware updates though.

You can also ask there on their forum.

I can only think that your Windows installation is messed up and needs to be reinstalled or something like AntiVirus (or something else) is blocking the driver install. With more emphasis on the first :)

Logitech doesn't offer a separate driver as it simply uses Windows provided mouse driver on first connection.

Oh, one side point. Its wireless. Its needs to be in close range to the usb receiver. Like keyboard close to the mouse. Closer than the computer if its a desktop. I've never tried seeing if wireless mice have issues on first connection of the receiver if there's a bad connection but its a theory.

Its possible there's some sort of driver issue. Maybe someone else will try to get that sorted should it be. But, there be a question what happened in the first place. I'd say just clean install and start fresh. But, see what happens and try the smaller things first if that's your desire.
