Windows 11 Reset vs Windows new Installation

Hello.

I was wondering what's the difference between doing a windows "Reset" and installation through the configurations, and using an USB with Windows boot to perform a clean installation?

Is there any difference at all?

I'm asking that because I was advised to do a Reset on my windows, and I was wondering if installing it through the USB would be better.

Thanks.

Windows reset will remove user-installed applications and software, but if your Laptop comes with Windows preinstalled means, then reset will not remove OEM-installed applications and software.

Windows clean installation will not include third applications and software. So in this case User can create a new Microsoft account or new local accounts for logging purposes, and the user can customize the Windows user interface as he or she wants.

A clean installation will remove any malware included in the existing OS because the user has to wipe the C partition before a clean installation.

In my opinion, Few users ( 40 % ) will prefer Windows Reset options and the remaining users ( 60 % ) will prefer Windows clean installation

    Hi Sg,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

Both processes reinstall Windows, but using a USB clean install is better and more reliable- doing a Reset is an automated task and is intended for general users who are not proficient, and who want to keep their files unless they backup them before in case of USB clean install.

    Who advised and why?

A reset places it back to factory state, with or without data - not so relevant if 365 is involved.
