One thing you might look for is the Security being used on that network. If you are not using WPA3-Personal with AES, you might try that.
Can't connect to 5GHz wifi networks anymore - Connected, no internet access (Intel AX201)
Hi everyone! I write this post because since some weeks I've a problem in connecting to 5GHz wifi networks with my Intel AX201 adapter, integrated in my MSI Z690 Edge Gaming. At first I thought it was a problem with my home network only (it was set to be a 5GHz by default), because it kept working with my smartphone's hotspot. Yesterday I tried to connect it to another hotspot that was set on 5GHz and I got the problem again.
In shorts it can connect to the access point, sometimes it works randomly for some minutes or hours but then the problem shows up again. It's like it couldn't see the gateway ip (192.168.1.1) and couldn't get an ip from the DHCP (indeed when the problem occurs I checked on the cmd with ipconfig /all and it has an ip with 169.x.x.x).
I tried using the Windows Troubleshooting and it says that "Wifi doesn't have a valid ip configuration - not solved".
Already tried several times to uninstall and reinstall the latest version of the driver that I found on the Intel website (the 2.160.0, Windows Update also updated it to 2.170.3 without solving), use the following commands:
- sfc /scannow
- netsh winsock reset
- netsh int ip reset
- ipconfig /release
- ipconfig /flushdns
- ipconfig /renew (when there's the issue it gets stuck)
I also performed an hard-reset of the router about 10 times, tried to force an IP assignation through the TCP/IPv4 properties (in that case it can't see the gateway ip)
Honestly I'm running out of ideas and I'd like not to reset my pc because I would have to reinstall a lot of things.
Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

2022-10-02T12:02:07+00:00 Its very highly likely an issue with the Intel wifi driver, compatibility with the router/AP, or the router.
You'd be wise to try various other networking tests such as trying an older driver by months or a year or so, to see if it connects fine to 2.4ghz, trying for a minute without wifi security (disable wifi security on the router), trying static IP correctly, making sure the router firmware is updated, trying various configuration from the router side, checking the router logs, etc.
sfc /scannow is a waste here :) Its a networking issue.
There's zero need to reset or reinstall Windows for this. Technically, its possible for Windows to put out updates and have hardware that needs newer drivers so rolling back using a Windows restore point or uninstalling an update might help.
Maybe someone else will walk you through things.

2022-10-03T21:48:04+00:00 Yeah, indeed I usually download drivers only from the motherboard manufacturer's website, but both Intel Driver Assistant and Windows Updates update them on their own. I've updated the chipset driver right now and the issue seems to be solved so I will accept it as a solution.
Thank you all guys!Edit (10/04/22): Okay forget it, today I turned on my pc and the issue showed up again, as always on 5GHz networks. I'm going to try to update the UEFI and let you know!

The WiFi driver must be downloaded from the motherboard manufacturer's website and not from the Intel website.
Before installing the downloaded driver, uninstall the current driver. Also, for that NIC model you need to update the Chipset drivers as well and make sure you are running the latest BIOS / UEFI version.

2022-10-02T12:17:57+00:00 I had to split my connection in 2 access point: one 2,4GHz and the other 5GHz and it works without any problems with the first one. I can't get what's the problem because I didn't change absolutely anything from the router side, so I don't think the problem is in there. Maybe it could be a configuration issue on the pc side or a driver issue. If I uninstall the PROSet software on the Apps menu and the driver going to Devices Manager, when I try to install a previous version from the default one (2.140.3) it says that a newer version is already installed, so I can't even downgrade it to the version provided by the motherboard's manufacturer in the USB. It's very strange since it's a problem that occurred suddenly, I mean, until some weeks ago everything was fine. Could it has been an automatic update by Windows Update or the Intel Driver Assistant software?
