Windows 11 Stops Responding Over and Over
Hello,
Not sure where to start. I have a new Windows 11 laptop. Lately I am having issues where it stops responding this gets worse and worse. When this started, it was only happening with my email program, Mozilla Thunderbird. Thunderbird still stops responding every time an email comes in and when I first run the program. However, this week the problem seems to be effecting Windows Explorer as well where my task bar freezes up and I can't select anything. Then it comes back after not responding for awhile. A couple of times instead I got a message that it was not responding and did I want to wait or stop the process. I tried to access the task manager and that resulted in a blank screen for a short while before the task manager appeared. I ran a quick hardware diagnostic and everything passed. I ran a corrupted file scan and that came out with no issues. I've tried other fixes such as wiping and reinstalling Thunderbird. I ran trouble shooting wizards. Also, Windows 11 22H2 was available to update. I tried to, it ran for like a minute, and then disappeared. I also had trouble with my network adapter driver recently and tried reinstalling it's driver. My laptop does have Optane memory. I tried disabling it, but that changed nothing. Now I am wondering if I should just do a new clean reinstall of Windows 11? Can anyone help me with all of this? Should I just wipe everything and re-install Windows?
Thanks.

I understand the issue you have, nothing to worry I am here to help, I know some of these steps are already done, you have just skipped them if you think it will have the same result, try to do the basic steps below for us to optimize the performance of the PC, if the same issue, yes you can do a clean installation or a reset.
Method 1. Do clean boot:
A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.
- In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
- On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
- On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
- Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
- Close Task Manager.
- On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

Method 2. Run memory diagnostic tool: Memory diagnostic tool is a RAM test to check if there is any issues with RAM.
- Press Windows key + R then type in mdsched.exe hit OK then restart the device.
Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

2022-11-05T02:42:19+00:00 Hello,
The memory check passed. The clean boot environment indicated that Thunderbird was having problems due to a conflicting program because once I disabled everything suggested and restarted, Thunderbird had no issues. Thing is I had a ton of services to go through in order to find out the exact one in conflict. In addition things were messing up bad enough to just fully backup and reset my PC. I'm doing that now. I also discovered that I have a video editing program that isn't compatible with Windows 11 installed that might be causing a problem. I won't install it. I have hopes the reset will work. Thanks for the help.
