If I reset my pc and press keep my files, will it delete or change any files or folders in the E or D drives? I have a lot of stuff saved on those drives I’m afraid I might lose those files.

A reset only affects the C: drive. However, it's always a good idea to do a complete backup before making big changes to your computer, and they don't come bigger than a reset.

    Hi Sonic10050

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If you perform a Windows Reset (not a manufacturers factory reset) then all data on other drives is not affected, only the C drive is affected, provided you do not choose to clean the drives, your data will be perfectly safe.

See your other replies, and let me add two important points:

    1. Things *can* go wrong or you could do it improperly. You should always be sure you have a backup of all your important fines on external media before taking a big step like this.
    2. Your question suggests that you don't do regular backups of your important data to external media. If that's the case, you've been playing with fire.  It is always possible that a hard drive crash, user error, nearby lightning strike, virus attack, even theft of the computer, can cause the loss of everything on your drive. As has often been said, it's not a matter of whether you will have such a problem, but when.

One other comment/question" Why do you want to reset it? In my view, it's almost always a mistake. It's a lot of work for most people to reinstall a the software, find and enter all the needed product keys (if you can find them), reconfigure everything the way you like it, etc. Instead, if you're having a problem, provide the details of it here; it's likely that I or someone else here can help you with it.

I’m only resetting it cause it keeps booting to the advanced options screen and it’s been doing this for a week or so and I’m thinking it’s the only way to get back in at this point
