Hello, hub-bubba
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
Thanks for your sharing! It will be helpful for the whole Microsoft Community. Besides restarting Windows Explorer, there are also alternative ways. Although they are not necessarily easier, they are still helpful:
- Eject the Drive Using Disk Management: Right click on Start, then select Disk Management > Right-click the USB drive and select Eject.
2.Press Windows logo key + R at the same time on your keyboard > type RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll and press Enter key on your keyboard > From the Hardware devices list, select the drive you want to eject > Click Stop.
- Disable antivirus program temporarily. Sometimes antivirus will keep accessing data on the USB drive while scanning it for potential threats. Be sure to enable antivirus as soon as possible after ejecting the USB drive.
Feel free to let me know if you have any other concerns.
Best regards
Yuhao Li
