Then an error will appear saying power surge on the USB port. How to find out if it has harmed the pc?

    Please perform the following steps:

    1) Free all USB ports

    2) Open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > manually expand all rows > scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers > right click on each row > left click uninstall device > on the device manager menu click Action > click scan for hardware changes

    3) Reboot

    4) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:

    sfc /scannow
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic

Post an image or share link of the commands with results into this thread.

    5) Run the Windows hardware troubleshooter > click next > click view detailed information > use the snipping tool to make an image > post the image or a share link into this thread

For share links please use one drive, drop box, or google drive.

Your PC should be fine. The error message is indicating that your device misbehaved.

The error indicate there is a issue with the device.
You may try connect a different USB device and it should work.
This device has a problem and probably there is a hardware issue.

What is the make and model of the computer?

There is not enough information to determine whether there is a hardware problem.

After completing the steps in the prior post use the computer as you normally do.

Report into the thread any recurrences.

If the computer manufacturer has diagnostics then run them (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.)

    Hello JaninduNimsara,

Ideally there should be not an issue if you update the Windows 10 21H2 and it could be issue with the disk itself.
But if you think your hard disk is slow then I would suggest yo run check disk to repair and fix Filesystem related issues.

    chkdsk c: /f /r

Also , perform some cleanup which will boost performance of your PC hard drive.

    1. Cleanup below Temp folders
      C:\Windows\Temp
      %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp
    2. Run Disk Cleanup from Select C:\ Drive from Properties- > General -> Disk Cleanup - >Cleanup system files -> Reboot your PC

Hope this answers your query related to Disk performance issue on your PC.
