    Hi,

specify if you have a desktop PC or laptop, make and model and if you intend to connect to your home WiFi network or to other networks.

depending if you have a laptop or desktop computer locate device manager open it go to network adapter and see if you have Wireless Wi-Fi one installed.

If so then head over to Network and sharing under control panel open it go to Change adapter settings open it and see if your WI FI adapter is presence if so right click over it and click on connect /disconnect then wait to see if it give you a list of connections if it does locate the one your trying to connect too enter the password.

IE your modem name and password to connect to the modem for internet access.

If its to another computer then have to configure the Ip address on both computers like example below:

    Computer 1 Computer 2

    IPaddress: 172.168.1.1 Ip Address: 172.168.1.2

    Gateway: 255.255.0.0 Gateway: 255.255.0.0

    DNS: 172.168.1.2 DNS: 172.168.1.1

this is direct connection method for transferring software etc and remote access between two computers only then need to setup the network sharing side of things and if your going to use remote desktop that too.

Who is your Internet Service Provider? What type of Modem/Router do you have? What is showing on your computer for connections? Have you checked your adapters status? See example image below.
