I'm late but no, I haven't been able to fix it. My computer works for some games, but for others I keep getting amd driver timeout. I'm most definitely never buying an AMD card ever again, nothing but trouble since I've bought it.
AMD Driver Timeout. Tried a few things, none worked. Please help identify the problem.
Since some time ago I've been having a lot of AMD Driver timeouts, whenever I'm playing I always get a driver timeout, it happens at random, I can open the game and get it instantly or play it for long hours with no problem.
I've tried DDU to uninstall and install several different drivers, My OS is also up to date (windows 10).
When I ran Heaven Benchmark test on my cousin PC with this GPU for 4 hours, it did not result in any driver timeout. Meanwhile while I tried to do so in my own PC it gave me driver timeouts pretty fast. So it's something on my PC causing it.
Things I've tried, which resulted in no change:
- Using DDU and installing old/medium/new drivers.
- Changing Virtual Memory to a manual value instead of automatic.
- Changing power plan to High Performance.
- Checking with prime95 (No problem for a hour of test).
- Checking Ram with memtest86. No problems for a full pass.
- Flashing my BIOS.
- Deleting GPU shader cache.
- Using different SSDs with different OS installations (fresh install).
I would appreciate if someone could at least help me identify the cause, so I know which component I should buy a replacement for instead of replacing everything at random expecting something to work, which I cannot afford right now.

2022-07-11T21:13:16+00:00 Hi Derrick. I was testing your Dram Voltage suggestion. Because of the nature of my problem, testing these things can take a while, since the timeout can happen instantly or take hours to crash. When I set my Dram from [Auto] to 1.53V I seemingly don't get any driver timeout (I left Heaven Benchmark running while I went to sleep, 6+ hours without a crash), but all my games become very laggy with that setting.
The Dram Voltage Range goes from 1.48V to 2.29V. My games become laggy with 1.53v is it safe to increase beyond that? Google recommends voltages along the lines of 1.35 or 1.5v but it seems those voltages aren't compatible with my system.https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/2e22814f-3bdf-48ff-bf82-3d25b360d419?platform=QnA"https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/2e22814f-3bdf-48ff-bf82-3d25b360d419?platform=QnA" rel="ugc nofollow">.
- My monitor doesn't have lower frequency settings than what it's currently set to (60hz) nor does it have the vertical tear function you mentioned, as far as I know.
- My GPU says it doesn't have support for the AMD Freesync, so it's disabled by default.
- There's no overclock on my computer since I don't know how to do it. I changed DRAM Voltage from Auto to 1.53V (Min was 1.48V and Max was 2.29V, I read online that the recommended is 1.5 for ddr3).
Just want to add that sometimes my GPU app says ''radeon wattman settings have been restored due to an unexpected system failure'', not sure if this is related or not, but it's a separate message from the Amd Driver Timeout message.

Welcome to Microsoft community.
Your problem may be caused by incorrect settings or overclocking. You could try the following steps first.
- Whether there are some official amd software in your computer, such as ryzen master or sth, you can try to uninstall them.
- Reduce the refresh rate of your monitor and turn off the vertical tear proof function of your monitor.
- Turn off AMD FreeSync option in the graphics card driver center to check.
- Turn off all overclocking on your motherboard. If it still doesn't work, I suggest you increase the voltage for your memory in the motherboard BIOS. Memory undervoltage will also cause some AMD graphics card drivers to timeout.
Keep us posted if you encounter any challenges along the process.
