Toshiba satellite e205: lights are on, keyboard presses makes beeps and the screen has a typing bar

As it is said in the title, my laptop has the lights on the front on. Though, only 2. The power and the plug are on. The cylinder is off for some reason. It goes on for a few seconds though when I first power it on.

Keyboard presses also make a beeping sound. The exception to this is Fn+any number which does nothing and ctrl+alt+del which just restarts the laptop.

The screen also has this flashing vertical line on the top left which looks like a typing line you would see in a command prompt. I don't know how to fix this problem.

All these are happening at the startup page, immediately after the Toshiba logo and I didn’t get to see the windows loading screen at all.

Hi 4REXDADI,

Because that drive is no longer bootable, the best option would be to create a bootable Windows 10 USB and access the Recovery Environment from there.

Boot your PC from that, then rather than installing Windows 10, select ‘Repair this Computer’ that will give you access to the Recovery Environment from there

Click this link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS)

    Hi 4REXDADI,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Your description indicates your laptop cannot boot from the drive or there is a problem in BIOS

    1

Start your laptop, then repeatedly press the F2 key or Fn + F2, does that boot the laptop into BIOS?

If you can get into BIOS, find the option to restore BIOS defaults and apply that.

Save those settings and restart your laptop, does it attempt to boot into Windows?

    2

If you cannot get into BIOS:

    Disconnect the power cable

Press the power button on the laptop for 30 seconds

Wait 10 minutes, then reconnect the power cable and start your laptop

Does it attempt to boot into Windows?
