Code 10 on SAMSUNG Mobile USB Remote NDIS Network Device

(Sorry, english is not my main language, so I may use wrong words to describe some stuffs. Therefore be indulgent. :))

Hello there,

I'm facing an issue to use my Samsung Galaxy S6 as modem, since few weeks.

I used to share my phone connexion due to my small ADSL, but now when I activate the USB modem on my phone, my PC doesn't react (actually, I hear a sound... but nothing else).

I've checked the peripheral manager, and I saw an orange triangle on "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Remote NDIS Network Device" with this message :

Ce périphérique ne peut pas démarrer. (Code 10)

{L’opération a échoué}

Or in english :

This perepheral can't start (Code 10)

{The operation failed}

The requested operation couln't be completed.

I've also noticed that I can't access my files on my phone from the file explorer, althought I've accepted the file transfert when I connected the phone.

I tried to update the drivers, but it said I already have the best drivers.

I tried to uninstall the peripheral then after the PC restarted, nothing changed.

I tried to change my cable, but no success (actually, with the same cable, I can use the tethering on my other PC which is on linux).

I tried with a different phone (a Samsung too), and it didn't work.

I'm not sure what to do next. Could you help me please ?

Thank you for the update. If there is only one Windows device for you, could you please try to share it by using USB connection under the new local account, so as to see if everything is normal?

How to create a local and administrator account
    1. Windows+R to run netplwiz, open the user account window, click the "Add" button, choose not to use a Microsoft account, and create a new local account. After the creation is complete, select the new user name, click Properties, and change the group members to administrators.
    2. Open the start menu, click the avatar on the left to switch accounts, or press Windows+L to lock the screen to switch.

Feel free to post back if any assistance needed.

    Hi Kleinrich

Thanks for the update on this matter.

Typically, the hardware key for a device contains a "FailReasonString" value, and the value string displays an error message as defined by the hardware manufacturer. If the hardware key does not contain a "failure cause string" value, Code 10 will be displayed.

And according to our research, the automatic search in Windows for a debug solution for this driver seems to have basically been tried.

Could you please confirm this issue occurred after some operation, for example, Windows update or System reinstall. Does it work normally on other computers?

If it is convenient for you, you could also try to contact Samsung official to get the latest version of the driver for this USB remote NDIS network device, and see if it can be installed successfully.

Feel free to post it here if any updates.

    Hello Chandy,

    Unfortunatly, it didn't work.

I've this message after I clicked on Next:

"Windows found the drivers for your device, but it encountered an error trying to install them" (translated from french)

    Then the same message :

"The device can't start. (Code 10)"

(Driver information: Provider: Microsoft, date: 2006/06/21, version: 10.0.19041.1)

    Regards,

    K.

According to this official statement, **** click here, the fix for Code 10 is to update the driver. We have learned that you have performed this step, but it still does not work.

    • Click Win +X >> Open Device Manager >> Go to Network Adapters
    • Right-click on "Remote NDIS-based Internet Sharing Device" and select "Update"
    • Select "Browse my computer for driver software"

    Bonjour Kleinrich

    Meilleures salutations,

    Chandy|Spécialiste du support communautaire Microsoft

    Hello,

    Sorry for the delay.

"Could you please confirm this issue occurred after some operation, for example, Windows update or System reinstall."

I can't. Usually I connect my phone, activate the connection sharing and it works (I am sure it worked before). But recently I didn't pay attention to the actual speed of my connection, I thought I was really using my phone... But one day I noticed my connection wasn't better after I activated the connection sharing, and it was at this moment I've checked the device manager and saw the error.

I can just say, I haven't reinstalled windows recently.

"Does it work normally on other computers?"

I only have access to one PC on windows 10 (this one thus). My other PCs are on Linux, and it works with the same phone and the same cable.

    Regards,

    K
