How can I use the computer with the screen off?

Hello, I would like to be able to turn off the screen so that I can continue using the mouse and keyboard without the screen being able to turn on.

previously with Windows 7 and 8, this was possible by pressing the Windows keys plus p, to select the "second screen only" option.

The problem is that this is no longer possible.

This feature would be useful for me to prevent people from seeing what I am doing without interruption while using a screen reader.

So is there a way to do it?

Yes, of course, Daniel. I will escalate it via our forums channel so it gets the proper attention.

Let me know if I can help further. I'll stay subscribed to this thread in case you need anything else, until the system locks it in a few months.

Hi Daniel. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Can you tell me a little bit more about what you need so i can help you better with a possible solution. How would you yourself be able to see what you're doing if there is no screen turned on at all?

If you want to suggest this to Microsoft you may be able to help improve this product/experience by using the Feedback Hub in the Start Menu apps list. Microsoft developers DO read feedback from customers that comes in via the Feedback Hub, so that is a great way to share your thoughts on how to better serve you as a customer.

the point of my question is that microsoft modify this functionality to go back to using the computer without having the screen on.

Could you help me send them a report so they can work on this? Thank you

hello: as I said before, it is not possible to turn off the screen in windows 8.1, 10 and 11 when selecting second screen.

The only way to turn off the screen permanently is by connecting it to an external projector.

however, in earlier versions of Windows, you didn't need to connect a projector to turn off the screen.

my goal is to use the computer with the screen off, i'm not interested in projecting my screen to another device, i just want it to stay off while i use it.

There is no application capable of doing this or yes.

I read what you sent me but as I said before it requires an external projector to be able to turn it off, and I don't want to do that, my goal is that no one sees it.

Hi Daniel, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

I believe the "Second screen only" option is still available in Windows 10 by pressing the Windows key + P. When you press those keys, isn't Windows displaying the Project window? (See image below)

If not, here are ways for you to change it to Second screen only
