I know how to enable the hibernate option via Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings and select "change the settings that are currently unable"
Then finally check the box next to "Hibernate" option. However, that option itself disappeared. Did windows update cause this? I reconfigured the system recently. This laptop does not go to sleep without external power. I need the hibernate option. Please let me know if that will be possible. I have read other posts on this, and those tricks are not working. Did I do something, or did the update cause this?

Hi Narada,
I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.
In the Windows search,
type cmd, right-click it, and choose run as administrator.
Type the following command:
powercfg /h /type full
Press Enter on the keyboard.
Restart the computer and check if the Hibernate option comes back.

Thank you for your kind response, Sumit. I tried this. The result was a negative. I think it might be the result of some security patch and product redesign. I was reading in some forum that the new way to hibernate a PC is hybrid sleep. This is basically the same as hibernate from end user's perspective. To reduce redundancy, hibernate option has been removed. In the same place it was mentioned that hybrid sleep does not work on old hardware because the machine implementation of the algorithm is not supported. That is why I guess so many people start looking for answers to the same question that I have posted, whenever some update messes up with the hibernate button. The oldest question I came across was from year 2019 on the Microsoft forum.
