Windows Service - McpManagementService: <Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 15100>

I want to start out by saying I'm not the type of person to nitpick, look for any reason I can to complain, go on the attack, or any other such behavior. It's a waste of time and energy. With that in mind, consequently, I'm not making this post in hopes for assistance or resolution. As you can see in this thread, assistance and/or resolution is clearly not a concern here. Some "Independent Advisor" or "Microsoft MVP" pastes one the handful of same old script solutions - and half the time those instructions are completely unrelated to the issue. It's usually just a big "blanket" solution.... like.... they'd tell you to just format and reinstall if they thought you'd do it!

In the thread I linked above, there was one answer given to which the original poster specifically and clearly said "NO... IT DIDN'T WORK!" Hmm... oh well. Closed. Locked. LOL! What kind of support are you guys running? I realize this is "Community" not actual professional support, but you'd think a multi BILLION dollar company could maybe hire a building or two full of teenage geeks, even!

While I will admit, I have a somewhat biased opinion of Microsoft from the jump, everything about the help and support for any and all Microsoft products - other than the literal BRAND new released products - is, hands down, the worst I've ever encountered in my 30 years involved with the IT field and computer systems. And yes, I've spent quite a few years in technical support, help desk environments, and customer service personally. BEST BUY'S technical support is better than Microsoft's! And I highly advise against Best Buy's technical support packages.

Oh... did I forget to ask my question? Hmm... saved you the trouble of pasting one of those useless and pointless set of instructions then, didn't I? For anyone having this issue, the logical cause are resent updates that have been pushed out. This service didn't even exist before the last batch of updates, so whatever Microsoft once again has not completely finished before pushing out to the public (just like Windows 10) it'll be a couple months or so - if not longer - before you'll see this issue resolve itself.

You guys better get old Billy Gates off the damn throne and get some younger blood in there that maybe will focus on ONE project at a time or set aside the appropriate manpower for EACH project instead of literally trying to spread over EVERYTHING and compete with EVERYONE. Ridiculous... like... unreal. Anyone notice how Edge is now basically modelled EXACTLY like Chrome now? LOL bit too late, boys.... I mean, Jesus... you don't have to dominate EVERY aspect ... and trust me. YOU DON'T.

I've had no problems with 10 at all of course the first thing I do after the install is strip out all the non-essential goo.
I got a script to run in powershell that removes all the "money makers" (movies, groove, cortana, solitair and any other games, the games change as new versions come out.
Real simple, it leaves "store" and I had it also leave the weather
    Powershell as an admin

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | where-object {$_.name –notlike “*store*”} | where-object {$_.name –notlike “*weather*”} | Remove-AppxPackage

That's it, In 30 seconds your speed is up by 30%, and the distractions are down by 99% :)
You'll need to make Windows Media Player your default for video and music (or download VLC) and you'll need something to open pictures besides Paint. I have another script that re-instates the old Windows Photo Viewer from win 7 (which is still in 10 but castrated) Let me know if you want that

Enjoy and have a great weekend

    Damn Dude!!
Like you I've been in this business a few years and boy did you ever hit the nail on the head.

We come here hoping that someone else who has had the same issue we did (and we already knew there were thousands) but maybe just one of them stumbled across a fix somewhere, or found it themselves and posted it here.
I've been in the consumer and pro audio service business since 1966, then everybody got CDs, then VCRs, then DVDs so I learned that, that and that....and then Bill took IBM for the perfect cash ride and here comes Windows (well DOS, then Windows) and I learned them!
No where have I ever experienced the utter lack of empathy for customers that I've witnessed from Microsoft.
Even worse, and way more than once, they have broken the retired product in the fervent hope that it would cause everyone in the world to toss their hardware in the trash and buy a new one, replete with new software.
Yeah I'm talking to you Windows Me, Vista, which broke XP on many machines and way way worse of all the way they broke Windows 7, possibly the best OS they ever released, by killing tens of thousands of machines with an update that broke the updating software within a month after the release of Win 8, possibly the worst (well, OK, there was Vista, which didn't even work until the first service pack)

Anyway, thanks for the post, a breath of fresh air.
    And OH HEY!!
<Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 15100> Any body figure this out yet, like maybe before Win 11 is retired?

Thanks. Come across this when checking services.msc for bloatwares on startup.

I would rather have old Bill Gates back, it was a way better company when the man was in charge.

Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't locked or deleted this thread yet... I suppose that's one more indicator just how little attention customer support is given. :/ LOL

P.S. I had grown accustomed to the way they pushed out OS's ... and had the foresight, I suppose, to skip over Vista and Windows 8. Never had them installed on ANY machine I owned. :P lol It was strictly by happenstance that I even came to use Windows 10. I refused to upgrade from Windows 7 ... but then got a new machine that came pre-installed. And yeah... there's been more than one update that caused me grief... seems to be a pattern here. LOL
