How to allow access to other Microsoft accounts users to my computer?

Anonymous

I’m giving my old computer to someone else and it has windows 8.1 on it still. The only way for her to log in is to give her my password as my account is the only one on the computer and it has administrator rights. It is also the same password to my Hotmail email account since Hotmail is a Microsoft account. How do I let her login with her own Microsoft account since the computer has only my account on it?

With end of support Microsoft is not telling you that your operating systems won't work.

What they are saying is that after a certain date they will no longer support them.

Whether they still work or not with particular programs is up to the particular program manufacturers.

Example: Google Chrome is no longer supported for security updates in XP or Vista by Google and Mozilla Firefox is following the same path.

What this basically means with Microsoft no longer supporting an operating system is that even though hackers may find "holes" and vulnerabilities to be able to access the operating systems and cause security problems, Microsoft will no longer be monitoring or rectifying those problems by way of Security Updates each month.

You are on your own in regards to maintaining the Security of your operating systems.

What does it mean if Windows isn't supported?

and disregard the scare mongering about Windows 8.1.

If you or her want to install 10 later on, read through this:

You may or may not still get 10 for free, but you first have to see if 10 is compatible with your device.

The free upgrade to Windows 10 offer from Microsoft expired on the 29th July, 2016.

You will have to contact MS support and they may be able to assist you with a free upgrade to 10..

If you are upgrading to 10 at least make a system image backup for two reasons.

    1. Some people report they don't get the free upgrade and want to reinstall 7, 8, or 8.1 depending what you attempted to upgrade from..
    2. If you don't do the system checks and 10 is incompatible with your device and it becomes inoperable.

1- Sign in to the Administrator account.

2- Create a new local Administrator account for your recipient.

3- Sign in to the new local Administrator account. From that account, delete your own account(s) and whatever else you think should be deleted.

4- Give the computer to your recipient and give her the password for the new Administrator account.

The computer is now hers, and she can do whatever she pleases with it.

Important: Windows 8.1 reaches end of support in a little more than a month, on January 10, 2023. I know you mean well, but you aren't doing your friend any favors by giving her a computer with a soon-to-be unsupported operating system. Perhaps you should look into whether it's possible to install Windows 10 on that computer.
