Windows 11 crashes after some hours of uptime (memory issue)

I have an installation of Windows 11 Pro. Everytime I start my PC, I use it for a couple of hours (4-5 hours) and then I'm greeted by all my apps crashing or restarting because of no/low windows memory. (The Windows itself doesn't stop or freeze, only the apps.) After I reboot the PC windows works normally for another couple of hours. I believe it's not a hardware issue because I've tried reinstalling a new copy of windows which worked perfectly for a couple of months and then the issue started appearing again, at first it crashed after 6-8 hours of uptime but then the time started lowering. Now it is at 3-4 hours. After the apps crash I can sometimes open them back up but other times they are not working correctly and I need to restart which made me think it is a software issue or some kind of memory leak. When it crashes I opened task manager a couple of times to look at the RAM usage but it seemed normal (6/16GB) for my kind of usage.

Mentioning I've had this problem on Windows 10 aswell before 11 was released.

Thank you for your help! Kind regards,

Ionut.

I've managed to fix it... apparently it was a bitcoin miner named Archiver.exe located in %appdata%\Roaming\Archiver

It used all of the virtual memory overtime and caused crashing.

It also closes itself while task manager is open so you cannot find it.

I've found it using Task Scheduler and removed the 2 tasks named PCIE BUS and PCIE POWER which deleted the application logs after each crash...

Hopefully this was it and the crashes stop.

I'm dissapointed in Windows Security for letting these kind of apps run like that and ruin the experience...

It is a custom built PC, I have updated BIOS to the latest version and drivers are being kept updated by the motherboard manufacturer's app utility. (App center from Gigabyte)

I've used Advanced System Care but it has been uninstalled for a couple of months. No other app I know of.

Is this a branded PC, and if so have you updated both bios and ALL drivers from that PC maker?

Are you using any third party "speed up my PC" type utilities?

Hi Paul! Thank you for your response.

Most of the apps give me an error that says "Out of Memory" or something similar. I will try to look for an error code next time this happens.

Do you want me to share the Application logs after the apps crash or can I share it anytime?

    Thank you.

    Hi ionutradu252,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Do you receive any error message or code when an app crashes?

Also, can you share the Application logs? It might help us determine what caused the PC to crash.

    >> Open Event Viewer.

    >> Click Windows Logs.

    >> Right-click Application

    >> click "Save all events as"

    >> Select location, name the file, and click Save.

    >> select "Display Information for these languages ", click English and click OK.

    >> Upload the saved log file to OneDrive and share the link here.

    Thanks.
