Lenovo Legion T5 freezes daily - Windows 11

My Lenovo Legion T5-28IMB05 runs on Windows 11. The first time running each day it will freeze (usually early on in the session) in this way: if sound is on it will start to stutter then buzz, the cursor freezes, they keyboard freezes (no ctrl+alt+del possible). Monitor freezes on current screen with no blue screen. Then I shut it down by holding the power button for 5-seconds, then re-start. It runs well for hours after that. If allowed to go to sleep it will freeze again; the next day it will freeze again. Microsoft tried to help and suggested to go to the manufacturer. Lenovo's online troubleshooting failed to solve the problem. I've searched online for answers.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

the solution is super simple I have the same computer and suffered the same random freezes even using the browser pass the equipment by guarantee and I got another one and I had the same problem the solution is not to install the geforce experience, remove the graphics driver and the PhysX, and install the one I leave here ----> https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/desktop/u3vdod5us14.exe uninstall the old driver restart the computer install the new driver and restart it and you're done the problem is the incompatibility of the drivers supplied by geforce, so it is time to use the factory that lenovo supplies. hope to help!

    Hello John,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version? Please check it (Win + R key, and type "winver", press Enter), and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

Did you have any special operations before this exception occurs? Such as installing Windows updates, hardware changes, or the computer being physically bumped, etc. If there is, please describe it in detail, or take a screenshot, and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

You can uninstall the audio device in Device Manager ("Win" + "X" > "Device Manager" > “Sound, video and game controllers", find the device, then right click > "Uninstall device"), then restart the system and check it again.

Then I recommend that you update the driver through Windows Update(Win + I to open Windows Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > View optional updates > driver updates), because this location provides the most suitable driver for the current system, and the one you download from the official website of your device manufacturer may be the latest and may not be stable.

Meanwhile, you may Perform a clean boot, this is a mode of disabling third-party services or software, which could help rule out the interference of these elements.

Disclaimer*: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.*

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,

I have been having the exact same issues and symptoms on my Lenovo T5 28IMB05 (16GB Intel i7 GeForce 1660 super Windows 11). The PC will start, run fine, then randomly freeze, lag, (sometimes sound blur) and BSOD usually with a watchdog violation error code. This can be while simply watching youtube or playing video games, only happens once per start-up. I've updated various drivers, performed system updates and followed many various websites attempting to fix the issue. Ive installed your recommended drivers and hopefully that fixes the issues occurring. Its a pain going on the lenovo website, entering my system details and all the available/recommended drivers being for windows 10, not 11.

    Cheers

    Hi buddy,

Since posting I haven’t had any issues. The issues with the legion T5 i have, had been experienced by many others: https://www.classaction.org/news/legion-t5-28imb05-freezing-crashing-caused-by-incompatible-nvidia-drivers-class-action-claims

I’m not the most tech person but I basically followed the advice on these forums and YouTube video and it’s worked fine since.

    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Lenovo-Legion-T5-28IMB05-constantly-gets-severe-freezes/m-p/5077386

YouTube video really helped, watch this first:

    https://youtu.be/iyz8-ePJe0o

Basically you just stop a specific driver from functioning and update/install the drivers suggested in the video. Im on windows 11 and it works fine. Really simple stuff.

Hi Zeth! I hope you are doing great.

First of all I would like to know you were able to fix those issues, if so, would you tell which drivers did you exactly update and where can I download them?

Basically, I have been dealing with those issues since last year and I found out that. Since our PC (Lenovo T5 28IMB05) does not have a Audio driver for Windows 11 yet we encounter this problem, as we do not have the right driver for the right version of Windows there will be a incompatible version of drivers in our PC which causes lag, freezes and the blue screen with a watchdog violation error code.

I had to go back to Windows10 like 5 months ago and currently I have no issues.
