    Hello, Klaro.

Good luck with the new printer. I still think that it's best to install the full software package so if you need help finding it on the manufacturer's website, just let me know the full model number.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

Hi Greg, RE printer HP Deskjet 3050A j611. It prints perfectly FROM the computer. Issue is that the I am unable to copy nor to scan TO computer because the printer display is stuck on: "This printer could not connect to the internet". That's what I can't fix so that the display is back to normal. At one point Devices displayed a second, same model #, printer but with (network) added. I removed that one from Devices and verified that the above, (NOT) network, one is checked as the default. Occasionally Windows sends a notification: "Scan to computer is not connected". I check Wi-Fi set up and all is ON and works well.

In every other respect this printer worked great even though it is old(2008)

I purchased a Canon Pixma TS3522 but haven't even opened the box yet. Because of the age of the old printer, in your opinion would it be best to completely reset it or to remove it and install the Canon. And, should the HP be removed BEFORE installing the new Canon

You have often helped me so well , so you know that I am not at all literate in navigating PCs, printers, etc. Even after all your great advice I am old and forget what you taught me.

Greg Carmack, Thanks for your usual explicit instructions to fix an issue. i truly appreciate that you took the time to help me, again.

However, because my printer was purchased and installed in 2008 I feel that it has had its day and have ordered a new one which arrives tomorrow.

That surely means I shall be pestering for additional help in getting the new one up and running, so be prepared. All these new fandangoed gadgets are frustrating! Klaro

Hi Klaro. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Go to the HP Downloads page for your model here to download (under Utilities), install and run the HP Print & Scan Doctor which can repair issues like this:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservic...

Guide for running HP Print & Scan Doctor:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/topic/printscandoctor

While there download the latest full software package if you don't have it installed.

If the doctor can't fix the problem then I would Clean Install the printer which almost always works, lasts longer and actually saves time. Windows still needs the full feature software to properly run all the features of a printer/scanner, just the driver is not enough, and the new apps are not developed enough to be fully reliable.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Power up the printer, if wired unplug it's USB cable from PC.
    2. Go to Settings>Apps>Apps and Features to find and Uninstall any printer software.
    3. Use these methods to remove all of the old printer drivers:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/101274-unin...

If you receive an error that printer driver is in use, try these steps:

    https://techjourney.net/failure-unable-to-delet...

    1. Now type Control Panel in Start Search, open CP, choose Icon View. In Control Panel open Devices and Printers, right click printer to delete Printer and any scanner or fax of the same name. Restart PC.
    2. Go to the HP Support Downloads web page here http://support.hp.com/en-US/drivers for your exact printer model to download the full software package. Now is also the time to check for any newer printer firmware to install which matters a lot. See how to upgrade firmware here:

    https://support.hp.com/en-US/document/ish_17766...

    1. Extract Printer software, right click Setup file to Run as Administrator. Follow the setup screens closely as you install the software. For USB it should prompt when to plug in the printer.

Older software may need to be installed in Compatibility Mode to run correctly:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-non-...

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-olde...

If you have further problems reply back with results of each step.

Once it's installed and you've run a test print, then scanned it to see that it opens on the desktop, open the Printer software and go into its Settings to set the scan-to file location you prefer, also the email app you want opened for Scan to Email, if applicable.

Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

As a start you reinstall the full feature software from HP support for your model and follow the prompts to connect the printer

Its an HP not an MS or win question

HP even has a diagnostics tool
