Win10 22H2 external display black screen via USB-C hub to HDMI

Hello all,

I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th Gen (but I think it does not matter for this bug). With Win10 22H2, when I connect it via a USB-C hub to an external monitor that is plugged into the hub via HDMI, I get only a black screen. Windows is still recognizing the manufacturer of the monitor as well as the correct display resolution.

I uninstalled the 22H2 feature update patch (KB5015684) and voila, with Win10 21H2 (Build 19044.2251) it is working perfectly.

Anyone else having this problem?

I found some threads on the interwebs that indicate I am not alone, but the bug was not reported for the insider build, or ignored by the devs :(

Best regards

    Hello .Name, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that you are having black screen issues with the secondary monitor in Windows 10;

    First of all I need you to answer the question below;

    What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your graphics card?

    To find out which one, right-click on the start menu and go to Device Manager;

    Click (>) Display Adapters to expand the section;

    Inform the video card model (If there is more than one, please inform);

    I await your reply, see you soon!

    Hi Palcouk,

    I have tried everything I could think of, from drivers to BIOS to what not, until I had the idea of rolling back.

    I had hoped this is the place to report such a problem? =)

    Best regards

    22H2 is a user instigated update and not a win auto update

    Roll back the driver

    Join the club of people who have reported problems with that update

    PS you have run Lenovo Vantage Update?
