Hi. Exchange 2019 on-premise.

What is the difference between the two protocols? Most external systems in the SMTP only work with STARTLS and do not work with SSL/TLS

Does it depend on the external server or my server? What does support for both protocols depend on?

I don't understand where and how these protocols are configured, work.

SSL is deprecated. TLS is what you are really using. STARTTLS is actually a command.
