Best way to "Show hidden devices" in devmgmt.msc?

So there are 2 ways I know of to show hidden devices:

  1. In the Device Manager we go to View > Show hidden devices
  2. In the command prompt we enter:
    Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

Devmgmt.msc

And then still proceed to View > Show hidden devices.

Is there any advantage in choosing #2 over #1?
I've been told choosing the #2 route will show extra hidden devices, but I have not been able to count a difference in hidden devices from either option.

    Hi It's MR,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

There is no advantage to either method, there is only one set of hidden devices and using the Command Prompt method has no advantage and will not show any more hidden devices.
