Monitor loses input and PC fans speed up whilst gaming

When ever I load a game, after some time all my monitors go black/no input, my pc fans goto a high speed and I can still hear game audio/voice call audio. I have tried win+ctrl+shift+b but that doesn't help

MAIN GAMES THIS HAS APPEARED ON

  • Rust
  • Steam VR
  • Oculus Link (Maybe??)

PC SPECS

  • b450m mortar max motherboard
  • Ryzen 7 2700x
  • RTX 2060 SUPER
  • 32GB 2666 RAM (Occured on 16GB of ram)
  • Seasonic 650w PSU
  • 1x 250GB SSD
  • 1x 512GB NVME SSD
  • 2x 1tb HDD
  • 5x 120mm Fans (not rgb)

Things I have tried, but didn't change anything.

  • New install of windows 11
  • Added 16GB of ram

-Cleaned PC

-Updated Graphics Drivers

-Tried Different storage combinations

  • Setting Link State Power Management to off
  • Different Display Port and HDMI cables
  • Used DDU and installed different video drivers
  • Updated BIOS and chipset drivers
  • Updated other drivers
-Checked event logger. (Only tells me some reg edit stuff and that my pc was shutdown improperly, which I have to do every time this appears)

I have used Power Supply calculators and I should be drawing under 500w.

If there anything else I can try to resolve this?? I'm getting fed up of troubleshooting 24/7 to just have the same issue. I have read over 10 forum posts that haven't helped me solve this. If you might know something that I can do to remove this issue please comment.

I have confirmed it isn't a RAM issue, I recently bought more than assuming it was caused by low ram amounts. I tested both kids in different configurations and slots but nothing changed. I have downloaded the most up to date drivers for things like my cpu, gpu chipset and even got my most recent bios update hoping it would fix it but nothing changed.
I'm at the point where I have tried everything in my power but it hasn't changed. Here is a full list of everything I have done. (Will try my best to remember everything I have done)

THESE HAVE NOT REMOVED THE ISSUE

    • New windows install on a new drive.
    • New ram at set speed
    • Tried new and old ram on their own with different speeds (Under and overclocking)
    • Updated all drivers
    • Downgraded video drivers
      -Under clocked GPU
    • Cleaned most dust from gpu and cpu
    • Replaced CPU thermal paste (CPU has high temps in the 80's for a short time so i replaced thermal paste.)
    • Tried different cables/monitors (The issue affects all monitors I have tried affecting 3 at once with DP and HDMI cables)
    • Tried lowering refresh rate of 165hz monitor
    • Tried lowering game setting to the lowers
    • Tried optimizing game settings
    • Used the windows keybind to reset/restart display driver (Win+Ctrl+Shift+B)
    • Used windows memory diagnostic tool
    • Used software to roughly see power usage (Still under 650w), Also used an online power consumption calculator listing everything like fans, storage units ect and it was around 500w

MORE INFO- I am going to have task manager open to see if it happens at CPU/GPU/RAM High usage

    • Tonight I will try the RAM tool you suggested but I doubt its due to my RAM.
    • Although I can still hear desktop audio, when Using oculus link it disconnects. (Using VR on computer)
    • I roughly remember it occurring firstly on the game RUST. But it has occurred even whilst I'm just watching youtube, This isn't an issue with the game as It works perfectly on my laptop that has worse specs than my main pc with the issue

Once again my pc specs with driver information for each

    PC SPECS

    • b450m mortar max motherboard (Newest BIOS, Occurred on older BIOS version)
    • Ryzen 7 2700x ()
    • RTX 2060 SUPER (Tried older drivers and newest game ready driver)
    • 32GB 2666 RAM (Occured on 16GB of ram)
    • Seasonic 650w PSU
    • 1x 250GB SSD
    • 1x 512GB NVME SSD
    • 2x 1tb HDD
    • 5x 120mm Fans (not rgb)

Hello Jace. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

    1. Compare the install you did with this one:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-do-clean-ins...

After install did you expedite all Windows Updates including Optional until no more are offered? Then imported any drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads web page for your model that are newer, or branded instead of generic. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is how to keep the latest manufacturer's drivers current. Windows drivers are rarely enough.

    1. Was the problem immediately evident or did it occur later after you installed apps and updates? If later, do you have a System Restore point you can get back before that? Then monitor for the issue again to isolate the cause, if it's an update you can uninstall/restore again and block it using Hide Updates tool: https://www.droidwin.com/how-to-stop-only-a-spe...
    2. Let's focus for a moment on the RAM addition. Run Crucial System Scanner to check the RAM is precisely spec'd and configured, as there can be no deviation in the slightest from the motherboard specs: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner?cm...

Then Test the RAM overnight to stress it with the best bootable test memtest86, following this guide to test both sticks and slots:

    https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-test...

    1. If these remain black screen crashes they are known issues with additional fixes here:

    https://itechhacks.com/fix-windows-11-black-scr...

    https://www.lifewire.com/fix-windows-11-black-s...

    1. If none of those so far help then go over this checklist for everything crashes:

Feel free to ask back any questions. Please report back results for all steps given so I know what else to suggest if necessary.

Regarding making a new profile. The issue appeared on a version of windows 11 on an SSD I had for 2 years. Recently I bought a separate m.2 SSD, unplugged every other storage unit in my pc then reinstalled a fresh version of windows 11 on the new drive. Since it appeared on a fresh install doesn't that remove the possibility its a profile and OS issue.

I will try reseat my RAM 1 at a time soon and see if that helps. I also had my RAM overclocked but reverted it and the issue still happened.

Thanks for reaching out! My name is, Zadee. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

I understand that you're having problems with your monitor losing input and PC fans speed going up while gaming. Sorry to hear that.

It seems that you've done a lot already. Thanks for sharing the TS you've already taken.

For testing purposes can you create a new local user profile on your computer, please? Switch to it and test it there and see if it gives you the same results.

You should be able to create the profile under Settings > Account > Other users > under Other users click Add account > I don't have this person sign in info > Add user without a MS account. Then just fill up the fields to name the test account, and follow the process to finish creating the account.

This allows us to distinguish if this is something with the profile only, OS, or hardware issue.

If this does not happen with the new profile, then we can try to run an in-place repair on your original profile and see if it fixes the issue. If not, then we might have to go through a windows reset. The downside is we have to reinstall your apps. If the issue still occurs, we might have to reseat components in your computer like the GPU, RAMs, and even the CPU. Maybe also test RAMs one at a time on every memory slot.

    Kind Regards,
