After a recent update the text cursor keeps turning white on random occasions while hovering text input fields. This happens both in Chrome and Edge. This doesn't affect Word or other applications. It seems to be happening only in browsers.

It's very annoying, please help me.

This happened to me too! But, only while using Word. It took me weeks to figure it out! This is what finally worked for me. I hope it works for someone else too.

Click the Windows icon- in the search bar, type "Control Panel"

from there click "Appearance and Personalization"

    then "Ease of Access Center"

scroll down to "Make the mouse easier to use"

from there, you should be able to switch the cursor color to black and increase the size, if you like.

    click "apply"

    Good luck!

    Hello Lorenzo Bernini,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Let me help you solve the problem of the text cursor turning white at random.

Please tell me the current system version number, I'll test this situation, Windows +R type "winver" to check the version number, you can send me a screenshot of the system version.

    1. If the problem occurs after update the system, I recommend that you open Windows Update History and uninstall the update to see if that fixes the problem.

Open Settings > click Windows Update > Update history> Uninstall Updates > click the update you want to uninstall > click the "Uninstall" button above.

    2. Based your description, this problem only occurs on Google and Edge browsers, I suggest you try to reset your browser or clear your browser's cache data.

    1. In Edge, select Settings and more in the upper right corner of your browser window.

    1. Select Settings>Click to reset
    2. Select SettingsPrivacy, search, and services.
    3. Select Choose what to clearunder Clear browsing data > Clear browsing data now
    4. Under Time range, choose a time range from the list.
    5. Select Cookies and other site data, and then select Clear now.

All your cookies and other site data will now be deleted for the time range you selected. This signs you out of most sites.

Click Delete cookies in Microsoft Edge for more detailed instructions.

Disclaimer: Your browser automatically saves temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix page display problems. Please back up all your personal files first, such as Favorites, to ensure you do not lose data.

    3. If none of the above methods can solve the problem, please perform a clean boot in Windows, so that you can determine whether a Third-party software program is interfering with your game or program.

How to perform a clean boot

    1. Sign in to the computer as an administrator. If you are unsure if your account has administrator rights, see **** Create a local user or administrator account in Windows to find out how to see if your account has administrator rights, and grant them to your account, if necessary.
    2. Select Search, type msconfig , and then select System Configuration from the list of results.
    3. On the Servicestab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all. Select Apply.
    4. On the Startuptab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    5. On the Startuptab in Task Manager, for each Enabledstartup item, select the item and then select Disable. (Keep track of which items have been Disabled. You will need to know this later.)
    6. Close Task Manager.
    7. On the Startuptab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it will be in a clean boot environment.
    8. You can click How to perform a clean boot in Windows for more details about clean boot.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get you back on track.

If it works after a clean start, please refer to the above link on how to determine the cause of the problem after doing a clean start

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
