How do I remove this "trending searches" window from my taskbar search window?

Just recently, Windows 10 has pushed a new widget on my taskbar search window called "Trending searches". I have spent about half an hour trying to figure out how to remove this to no avail. I just want this thing gone. I don't want a constant insight into the news. I don't want "korea stampede" or "bridge collapse in india" on my screen every time I try to do something in windows. I try to avoid the news on purpose. This is literally the last feature I would ever ask for and it's been challenging to remove. Please tell me how to remove it.

Understand. You can always search the web from the browser address box using the Search engine of your choice:

Another thing you can try is remove web searches from the taskbar search box altogether so it's only used to search for apps and files on your PC:

Let me know if I can help further. I'll stay subscribed to this thread in case you need anything else, until the system locks it in a few months.

I really can't fathom how Microsoft thinks this is professional. I mean, I have a Microsoft Professional OS. They really think having fluff search suggestions permanently displayed upon my desktop search box is professional? Here, let me give you an example of my suggestions today:

    Christian Pulisic (whatever that is)

    Idaho Murders

    Jane Fonda

    Nick Fuentes

    Pulisic Injury (whatever that is)

    Patrick Mahomes

    Jack Flint

    Irene Cara

    Clarence Gilyard Jr

Seriously? I USE THIS COMPUTER FOR WORK! Microsoft has lost all respect from me. And don't even get me started with the asinine login fiascos Outlook has given me. I refuse to use it. And that means I avoid as many Microsoft platforms as I possibly can. Microsoft is now nuisanceware. Welcome to Microsoft Unprofessional where you cannot escape the idiocy no matter what you do.

This answer, like most of Greg's "expert" advice, is pure bunk.

I found the answer here: https://winaero.com/disable-web-search-in-windows-10-taskbar/

    1. open registry editor (type regedit on the search box then hit enter)
    2. navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
    3. create "Explorer" under "Windows" (right click "Windows" -> new -> Key)
    4. create DWORD value under "Explorer" called "DisableSearchBoxSuggestions" (*right click "Explorer" -> new ->*DWORD (32 bit) Value)
    5. assign value of 1 to this newly created value (double click "DisableSearchBoxSuggestions" then type 1 in the "value data:" box. make sureHexadecimalis selected and click "OK")

restart the PC and now annoying trending search section is gone!

I was just about to post the same link. Thanks for providing a real answer unlike Greg who's Microsoft Approved answer was not helpful in the least.
