I can't play any online games using my mobile hotspot, but when I use other mobile hotspots it works fine.

Hi all, hope you guys are having a great holiday season so far.

So I've had this problem for quite a while now but I only ever made this post now. The problem goes like this:

I turn on my phone's mobile data, and use the hotspot option so my acer laptop can connect. I connect just fine, and am able to browse the net, but when I try to access online games (genshin, league of legends, etc), or even just discord (it shows RTC connecting forever), I simply cannot play and/or connect.

However, when I try to use other people's phones for their mobile hotspot so my laptop can connect, I can play and connect with my laptop just fine.

With my own phone's mobile hotspot, I cannot play via mobile hotspot to my laptop. BUT when I play on my phone using its own mobile data, I can play the games just fine.

How can I solve this problem? Thanks!

Yes, it would appear to be an incompatibility issue between your laptop and your particular hotspot.

Try to reset network connections: Open PowerShell or CMD and run as administrator, copy and paste the following commands by pressing enter at the end of each command line:

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh advfirewall reset
    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

Restart the computer at the end of all commands.

If the problem persists, try these steps:Settings> Network and Internet> Status, click Network Reset on the right side, follow the instructions.

Yes, you need to contact your mobile network operator and report your problem.

Each SIM card has its own personalized profile, so there may be restrictions configured on your SIM for particular applications.

You must have your mobile operator confirm that there are no restrictions configured on your SIM when you use your phone as a hotspot to play online.

But have you tried using another PC, as I have already suggested, to connect to your mobile hotspot? Can you play or not?

    Hi,

probably this feature to play via the phone's hotspot is not allowed by your mobile network operator, try contacting your operator.

Otherwise, try connecting another PC to your mobile hotspot and see if you can access the games. Keep your phone powered by a power source when using it as a gaming hotspot.
