Maybe you have over read it, but i have already stated that all my usb ports are working fine in the bios. They are only not transmitting data when i start windows. Not only because of that, but also because i had the exact same issue with my old motherboard, i think that ist not possible to be a hardware error, at least not with the motherboard.

And yes i have already downloaded the exact drivers from the website of my motherboard but that didnt change anything

I already tested all the usb ports with different things like keyboards. mice, usb sticks and my usb microphone and non of them worked in windows. The usb ports all work normal in the bios. I have tested that in both of the bios of my motherboards. The first one was Asrock and the one i have now is from asus. All usb ports have power at all times but when im in windows not only the rgb doesnt light up but they dont work at all. I could charge my phone with everyone of the usb ports but the pc doesnt recognize that the phone is conected. Like i already stated, i have switched my motherboard and with both of them i couldnt us all usb ports so i dont think that its possible, that the problem is from my hardware. I am pretty sure that the problem must be windows.

    Hello Baumschaf,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have tried to update all the drivers and even upgrade the power supply and motherboard. But after a normal boot into the desktop, how can you tell that the other USB ports are not working? Did you try to test by connecting other USB flash drives or external storage media at this time?

Analyze your problem from both a software and hardware perspective.

In terms of software, I know that you have updated the driver, but if there is no effect, please visit the supplier website of the motherboard, download the USB port driver suitable for the model of the motherboard, reinstall the driver, and then test again whether other USB interfaces can be used normally.

On the hardware level (from your description, I prefer to classify this problem as hardware level), maybe you need to check a lot of things, whether the motherboard is damaged, whether there are hardware compatibility issues, whether the gold finger of the USB port is broken, whether there is poor contact. My suggestion is to take the equipment to After-Sales Support for hardware level fault inspection, which should require the use of professional detection equipment.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Hi Baumschaf,

Thank you for your additional clarification on this subject, and I believe we are getting closer to the truth.

If the problem is in Windows, I will provide you with a complete fix.

Visit Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com) and click "Download Now" to download MCT (Media Creation Tool), then download and run the program, select "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) for another PC” , and then choose Language, Version, Architecture (if you are not sure about these, choose "Use the recommended options for this PC"), then select "ISO file" in the "Select Media to Use" interface, and then a windows ISO file will be downloaded to your disk (about 4-5GB in size, it is recommended that you choose a non-system disk).

After the download is complete, double-click the ISO file, double-click to run "setup.exe" in the open file explorer, and select "Change how Windows Installer downloads updates" > "Download updates, drivers and optional features", Select "Keep personal files and apps" after accepting the terms of the agreement, then click "Next" > "Install". Then the system will reboot a few times, and then enter the welcome screen.

Disclaimer: Please back up all your important data before performing it.

Don't worry, this is not a step to reinstall the system. The idea is to download an image file of the system and then overwrite the system on the device for the purpose of fixing it.

    Hi Baumschaf,

No offense, but I think there may be a cognitive error in your description.

The USB port has power, which means the motherboard can power USB, so you can charge your phone through this port. But that doesn't mean the USB port is working perfectly, because as you said, the computer can't recognize your phone, because the port can't transmit data.

I am not sure whether you have reinstalled the USB driver of the appropriate model as I suggested(especially when you switch to another motherboard, have you installed the corresponding driver?). If not, please download the corresponding driver and try to install it. If you have done this and the problem persists, please take your device to After-Sales Support for an inspection of the hardware.

    Best regards,
