Windows 10 Update Error 0x80073712 trying to install Windows 10 22H2

I was trying to update my computer to 22H2 for the first time in months, last update I installed was in August, when all of a sudden I got the error code 0x80073712. So far I've found out that my hard drive would fail a chkdsk scan, but after booting into the recovery environment I fixed that. I've also tried what the answer in Windows 11 Update Error 0x80073712 said, despite the fact that the person in that post had windows 11, but to no avail. I also ran the windows update troubleshooter and it claimed that nothing was wrong https://imgur.com/a/YU9ph1U. If you have any ideas I'll try them out!

    Hi,

    The error 0x80073712 means some assembly files in the WinSxS folder are missing.

    From Admin Command Prompt, run:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Download the Windows 10 Update Assistant or the Media Creation Tool to install the 22H2 update. It's available for download from the following link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

    When I run those commands I get Error: 14098 The component store has been corrupted and the installation media fails to install windows and reverts its actions

    Error 14098 usually occurs if your COMPONENTS registry hive is corrupt beyond repair. Do you have a recent System Restore point?

    Anyway, please upload the CBS and Setup logs so that I can try to find which components are missing.

    SetupDiag

    Download SetupDiag from this link and run it. The tool collects the setup logs and saves them into a zip file named Logs.zip on your desktop. Upload the file to your OneDrive, Dropbox, or any other cloud hosting account and share the link here.

    CBS logs

    Please upload your CBS logs. Follow these steps to collect them:

    1. Open the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS"
    2. Select all files, right-click on the section, click Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.
    3. Click Yes when you see the following prompt:

    Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here.

    Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?
