For some reason it keeps defaulting to my siblings Microsoft account instead of my own Microsoft account in the settings section of Windows 10. How can I change this? Also, his account is a child account while mine is an adult account and the same account I used to setup my pc.

Yes, your files will transfer. Don't transfer system files. Those should be already generated when the user is created.

So for example, go into Documents folder in the old user folder, copy the files and put them into the new documents folder in the new user folder. Don't bring the entire folder over.

Without knowing how your sibling added the account and usage history, it is hard for me to tell how this happened. It looks like the account was added but was never verified. If the Mirosoft account is added properly, the "sign in as local user" option shoud be presented to you. And if the local user is set up properly, you should also have the "sign in with Microsoft account' option.

I don't think the temp file removal would help. It is probably best to start a new local admin user, and migrate your stuff over.

You can launch that netplwiz again, and click on Add. You will have the option to create a user without Microsoft email. Go ahead and do that. When created, double click on the user, and go to group membership tab and make it admin.

Restart the computer, log into the new user instead. Then go to C:\users\old username folder, copy your files from that folder into the new username folder.

Sorry, unfortunately that hasn't fixed my issue despite deleting the wrong account. It is still showing as logged into his account in the settings app. Though it did remove the association of the account from the local account in the "your info" section as shown in the bottom screen shot. In which case, do you know how to log out of the settings app? ImageImage

    Hello there. This is Emily.

Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info

Click on Sign in as local user instead. follow the steps and finish the rest

    Restart the computer (don't skip)

Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info

Click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead. follow the steps and finish the rest. Make sure this time you use your own account.

    Restart the computer.

Hi, sorry for not clarifying this earlier. However, this is already an local user (just signed in to the wrong Microsoft account) I would like to continue using this same local account, but instead sign out of my siblings account and sign in with my account.
