so i just did an update and since then my computer is laggy (it was perfectly fine before doing the update) and the taskbar is back at the bottom of the screen. i already tried going into the regedit and changing the value to 01 to make it go to the top and restarting windows explorer afterwards to apply the change but that didn't change anything. then i tried downloading explorer patcher but that also failed. where did the option go, you can't use regedit or third parties anymore (or at least i can't). Also somewhat related, now the apps in my taskbar show a name on them (like in the picture) and i'd like to know how to turn that back to normal when it showed only an icon. thanks

Hi Alli. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

It's not possible to move the taskbar as they engineered that out of Windows 11. There were some hacks given in the early days but they caused endless problems, until it was revealed by Microsoft Developers that it can't be moved because they rebuilt it in Windows 11 without that ability.

You can read about the Microsoft Developer's statement on this here:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-explai...

If you want to express your opinion on this you may be able to help Microsoft improve this product/experience by using the Feedback Hub in Start Menu, especially if you are comfortable with sharing relevant data and screen recordings. Microsoft developers DO read feedback from customers that comes in via the Feedback Hub, so that is a great way to share your thoughts on how to better serve you as a customer.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the detailed results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.

What was the problem with my answer to your question? Did you not want to know the actual reason why the task bar cannot be moved?

    What names on tabs issue?

Thanks, do you know about the tabs showing names issues? Is that also a obligation now?

Is Explorer Patcher, still installed? Windows 11 doesn't have labels in the Taskbar, unless you use a 3rd party patcher.
