X-Box live audio to bluetooth output stops working

Anonymous

Here is the low down.

Hardware:

MSI MEG X570 UNIFY Motherboard

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 3.5 GHz Socket AM4

G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin RGB DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200

Nvidia RTX 3080

H10 or T16 Bluetooth audio headphones

Software (Audio related):

Voicemeeter8 (virtual sound board)

VB-Audio (Virtual Audio Cables)

VB-Audio Cable A through D

The problem that is happening. ONLY WHILE USING AN X-BOX LIVE GAME ON PC. The game audio starts like normal. I start up to make sure it is set to the required/desired output. Once I get past the main menu all Bluetooth audio goes away. If I want to hear audio; I am forced to hear audio through "System" output and not Bluetooth audio output (H10 or T16). This problem goes away once the game is closed. Gameplay audio can still be recorded while having Bluetooth audio issues.

Settings I have tried to adjust:

In-Game audio - oddly, I have no way of adjusting X-Box live game audio in settings.

System Audio - Both default and app default settings.

X-Box Game Bar - it just mirrors what the system Defaults are. there is no option for just "Default"

X-Box Console Companion - Doesn't show up in app default settings

X-Box PC App - Doesn't show up in app default settings

I have swapped out Bluetooth audio headsets (no change)

All Drivers are up-to date. All updates are installed. Like I mentioned this only happens with X-Box games on PC for me. So far I have tried the games Grounded and Sea of Thieves. If there is a setting that I can change in game or with X-Box I will happily change them to allow Bluetooth headphones to work on my system while playing these games.

Other wise, I will have to stick with wired headphones while I play these games.

With all due respect, you did not address this person's problem. They are talking about the Xbox application on WINDOWS 10. This has nothing to do with a console. Please stop posting copied/pasted messages and actually give some assistance.

The original poster did not mention anything about Twitch or even streaming; for that matter, a CTRL-F would've pointed this out at the minimum. If you don't have a solution - don't answer or pass it to somebody who does.

Their problem is as simple as this:

Bluetooth headsets DO NOT WORK with XBOX PAIRED GAMES >>>> ON <<<< WINDOWS 10. This only occurs with XBOX PAIRED GAMES ON WINDOWS 10.

Quick reminder, I said NOTHING about an XBOX console, an Xbox headset, or streaming. This is an Xbox application issue that needs to be fixed.

From IT guy to IT guy, this is a HORRIBLE response. I'm a programmer, so don't give me the reach around, buddy. Give a little effort. Take some pride.

    Hello al3m33da,

Welcome to Xbox Community Forums. We appreciate for sharing your concern with us and we hope that you are doing well today.

    • I do not agree with this issue being moved away from Windows to X-Box. This is strictly a Windows issue. This can be identified in the Hardware and Software setup, along with the description of it happening on PC.

We understand the inconvenience caused and we know you have done a lot of adjustments but still with no recourse. As per description, you are having issue with Xbox Live audio games on PC using Bluetooth. Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern and help you back to gaming.

However, before we proceed, we would like to ask some questions about it for us to better understand.

    1. Are you playing it with friends or in a party?
    • This is a very specific question to the game play. I like where this is going. I am going to break it into 2 parts. My experience with Grounded and my experience with Sea Of Thieves.

Grounded - This game can be played both single player or multiplayer. When loading into single player on this game all audio is heard through my Bluetooth audio setup. Once I select the multiplayer action, the audio problem arrives. This persists until the game is closed.

Sea of Thieves - This game can be played single or Multiplayer, however unlike Grounded. Once I click to start from the main menu; the audio problem arrives. This persists in solo and multiplayer until the game is closed.

       2. Is there no interference that might cause the issue?

    • There is no interference with Bluetooth signal as the interruption only occurs when the games are loaded at a certain point. Audio can still be recorded by a recording program, but cannot be heard through Bluetooth. This is mentioned in the problems main description after Hardware and software layout.
       3. Where you able to adjust the volume on Game bar?

    • All normal adjustments (In-Game audio, System Audio, X-Box Game Bar, X-Box Console Companion, and X-Box PC App) can still be made. Audio can still be recorded by a recording program, but cannot be heard through Bluetooth. This is mentioned in the problems main description after Hardware and software layout.
       4. Is the headphone compatible with the adapter?

    • This goes back into the main problem description. Where audio is heard before and after the game, but not during. So the short answer is Yes. If you are referring to my headphones being compatible with X-Box adaptor. I am not connecting my headphones to the X-Box, this would not apply.

The 2020 Xbox Wireless headset needs to be paired with an Xbox USB adapter for audio I/O to work.

    • This problem is only on PC, and is not applicable to X-Box.

If you have other clarifications, you can get back to us by replying to this post.

We are looking forward to your response.

We will be glad to follow up and help you.

    Sincerely,

    • If a recorded video will help with identifying (this will only happen with Sea Of Thieves). I will happily record the game intro and identify the moments when I lose my audio. It will be very interesting as you would be able to still hear the audio in the recording.
