I updated my Windows 11 to 22H2 latest build and I got a problem with my chrome. I dont have any sounds in any websites. I tried and check if it is happening on other browser but it is not. I reset chrome even uninstall and re install the app but still happening. I went to device manager and update my driver for audio but issue persists. I check on google settings but the sound is enable so I kind of a lost here. Please help me.

    Good day,

I was having a similar issue not getting any audio from any site in Chrome. I'm running Windows 11 22H2, but I didn't have any audio problems when I updated my PC in October. Issue started over a week ago. I tried multiple restarts, close and reopen tabs, mute and unmute tab, reset Chrome, use Chrome's check for harmful software tool but nothing. Checks in Volume mixer always didn't show Chrome as an app using audio. All other apps - Media Player, Edge, Spotify etc. were able to play audio and showed up in Volume mixer.

I trust that that issue was sorted out for you, but in case it wasn't or someone else is stuck at it like I've been, heading to the Settings App > Sound > Volume Mixer > Reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to the recommended defaults worked for me (at least for the time being).

    Hi jayde_cassin-

I'm Kevin B. Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience, let me help you sort things out.

Kindly right click on your sound icon in your system tray.

    Click open volume mixer

Under apps ensure that your google chrome has a volume enable.

Please let me know what will happen. Hope this will help and have a blessed day!

    Thanks,

    Kevin B.

100% of the time the problem is solved for me at least, changing the audio from 5.1 or atmos into stereo. The audio magically comes back and then I have to re-set it into atmos/5.1.

I have just tried with clicking mono on/off and it also worked (which is faster, 2-3 clicks less)

I think there is a problem with stereo audio in chrome (or atmos/5.1).

It's not neat solution, but a good workaround to not become insane.

Windows or Chrome, or both are responsible for this shixxy behavior.

i thought i was the only one.

Alienware X15 R1, upgraded to 11 22h2 yesteday and now my audio is weird out.

    For context:

i log in via windows hello and audio is working as default windows login sound plays. Then i tried to test the audio by going to sound settings and then volume testing 'ping' sound works.

so i left the computer idle, not playing any audio for a few seconds.

after that, tried to test the audio again and now the 'ping' volume test sound do not plays. Launching a browser and browsing youtube and clicking a video, no audio was played.

On the volume mixer and sound settings, audio is NOT muted and volume bar shows that sound is playing (because you can see the bar is increasing and decreasing), yet there's no audio out from the speaker at all.

The only workaround i found is to go to sound setting, enable Mono audio, and audio plays again out from the speaker. Disable Mono audio and the audio continues to play in stereo as well.

And if i continues to let the youtube video plays, the audio will play no problem and continues to play. until i stopped the audio activity, leaved it idle with no audio playing, then continues to play the audio and it's back to square one again with the need to apply the same workaround.

    Hello everyone,

    I've got a similar problem.

    Alienware Aurora R13:

    12th Gen InteI(R) Core(TM) i9 12900KF (16-Core, 30MB Cache,

    3.2GHz to 5.2GHZ w/Turbo Boost Max 3.0)

    Windows 11 Home

    NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 3090 24GB GDDR6X

    64GB Dual Channel DDR5 at 4400MHZ; up to 128GB

Focusrite Pro 24 DSP audio interface w/Focusrite Mix Control.

    Cubase Pro11

The issue is, when I have Cubase open with any of my sessions running at 44.1 sample rate, Chrome or any other application that requires sound output does not function. I have to close down Cubase and relaunch Chrome, Amazon music Etc. In order to achieve sound output. So, from scratch, I launch Mix Control which displays the current bit rate, with only Chrome open, my sample rate on its own, changes to 96, once I launch Cubase, the the sample rate automatically changes to my preset session sample rate which is 44.1. At that point Cubase audio plays just fine, however when I launch Chrome, I get no sound, I believe it's because it's looking a 96 sample rate. I've changed all the input and output devices so that they all match to 44.1, but nothing seems to stick, it changes automatically no matter what I do. I've also noticed that I also get half a second sound drops every 5 minutes or so whether it's in Cubase or Chrome. I know this may differ from the scenarios above, but it kind of sounds about the same at the same time lol. So I'm trying to determine if it's an interface issue or a Windows 11 issue. Still trying to work through it. I will update soon.
