How long do I have to Activate a Windows product Key

I am going to build a computer around late December. I want to buy a product key but I fear if I buy it now the product key will expire by the time my pc is finished. Do these product keys have an expiration time limit or until it's used? Should I wait till my PC is finished or Should I buy it now so when it asks for a product key it won't be such a hassle?

You do not need to worry, a Retail Windows licence never expires, that licence will only become active when you activate it on your new PC Build, there is no set time period in which you must activate a Windows product key after your purchase it.

Hi, I am Van. I'll be glad to assist you today.

In most cases, you will get a retail type if you purchase a separate product key. This type of license does not have an expiration and you can use it anytime to activate a Windows that you will install. There is no pressure if you have it now or purchase it later when the time you get your PC.

    Best regards,

    Van

Product keys are not sold on their own from legit sellers but only with the media or a link to the MS installation

They do not expire but are no longer used after the install and the MS Account created, associated with that install/purchase

If buying online you can do it at anytime
