I have already checked a thread but I couldn't find the answer. So I wanted to open a png file but it said it was unsupported, I checked the file type and it said data. What does this mean and how to fix this?

    Hi,

if the file type simply sais "data" or "file" that usually indicates that the file name extension got removed.

Open a File explorer window. Go to: View>Show>File name extensions.

On the PNG file, check if the file name extension is ".png". If it is not, add it to the end of the file. That should make the file be recognized as a PNG file.

    Sincerely,

    LightJack

    Hello BaniCraft,

    I am Jaspreet Singh.

That would mean the file is no longer readable.

You can try out third party repair tool for images but I may add that there is a slim chance of the photo being recovered.

One other thing to try would be to use an online converter to try and convert the image to another format and see if you are able to open the converted image.

A *.ping file can be opened in any pic/imaging app, thats if the file is not damaged
