For (online) gamers Wired Mouse & Keyboard is always suggested. If there is a milli second delay due to the wireless connection that can make huge difference in gameplay. Same thing applies for USB keyboard with multi key input & Anti ghosting feature.
If the USB is getting detected in device manager please uninstall the driver for it, it should be under HID devices & restart the PC, if you cannot find it under mouse or HID devices then go to view>show hidden devices, now check if the device appears in the list, then uninstall followed by restart.
Please read manual for your mouse in case it requires re-pairing with its USB interface or what to do if they are paired but not working. As you have already reset your PC you have taken an extreme step, no better alternative could be suggested unless it was a hardware issue with the mouse itself, then contacting the OEM support for warranty assistance remains best option.
