Hello,

Is there any way to restore the saved web passwords and others from a failed Windows 10 driver? I have all the files on a backup drive and have reloaded windows to a new drive. The old OS is not bootable so cant export. There must be a way or a tool, just cant find anything online. Anyone know any working methods to recover WCM?

    Hello, tj_107

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Microsoft has no official data recovery tool to offer. To recover your data, you will have to contact a data recovery service.

In case the data can be recovered, search the device for the presence of .crd file. This file is the backup file generated after backing up credentials in Credential Manager. If there is one, just restore it to Credential Manager again. See Greg Carmack's reply for how to do so in this thread: Back up Web Credentials - Microsoft Community. Otherwise, passwords stored in Windows Credentials will be very difficult to recover. Windows credentials are algorithmically encrypted and then stored on the device, not in plaintext.

As for web credentials, if you remember the account name and password, you can log in to the corresponding accounts in your browser and make the browser save the passwords to remember you. Otherwise there is no other way to recover them.

I suggest you back up your credentials in a timely manner in the future. This backup is reversible to the Credential Manager.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other concerns.

    Best regards
